Georgia's Secretary of State.

What a sad state this country is in when merely believing in democracy and working to keep an election fair is grounds for an FF rating from me.

As of this election, at least he's better than his predecessor.

HP. He still supports voter suppression. He just refused to fool around with the vote count.

What a strange timeline we’re in when the Republican Secretary of State of Georgia is boldly standing for election integrity against immense pressure from the GOP to rig his state’s election.

Don’t think anyone saw that coming. How ironic everyone thought GA was the state at biggest risk for election shenanigans. Frankly it seems to have had a smoother and fairer voting and counting process than NY.

This honestly, doing your job does not mean that you're good, you're just doing the bare minimum, he is better than Kemp, but that's a very low bar. He only looks good because the state party around him has gone insane. I commend him for having a spine and doing his job, but I expect elected officials to do more than the bare minimum.

Bump.

I give him an FF vote now. Not endorsing his political ideology overall; and while the fact he's just doing his job shouldn't be a big deal, it takes some courage to do so and defend the rule of law while being intimated by Trump and his enablers. I actually feel bad for him and hope he gets the security for his well-being he (most likely) needs.

Still a Republican, so still an HP. But at least he has some spine. We shouldn't be calling people who do the very bare minimum "FFs". He still supports more restrictive voter ID laws.

Pretty hard to call him a HP in the context of his position and what some other Republicans are doing right now.

Yep. Those saying “still a Republican” are missing the point; even if what he did was the bare minimum viewed without context, it took a great deal of courage to what he did considering his partisan affiliation. It would have been so much easier for him, from a selfish perspective, to play along with Trump’s antics, but he followed his conscience instead. He has probably sacrificed his career because of this, not to mention the inevitable threats he and his family will receive from MAGA people.

All I know about him is that he withstood pressure from Trump to break the law and do something evil.  FF.

In 2022, Republican primary voters are going to throw away their last chance to still hold a statewide office at the end of the decade.

If they were smarter, this guy could be Georgia's Jim Hood.

He's done far more than the bare minimum. His office has issued timely and direct responses to all of the Trump campaign's false claims, they've done two recounts, they have published evidence supporting the integrity of the election online for anyone to access.

People can disagree on his politics, but he's done a very professional job with this election and the aftermath, and quite frankly that alone is a lot better than many elected officials.

I just finished watching Scott Pelley's interview with Raffensperger on 60 Minutes, and he comes across as a calm, collected, professional individual who's dedicated to the duties of his office and won't let partisan loyalties trump those duties. Thus, he's a definite FF.

What? I wouldn't be surprised if this man has received death threats for simply doing his job. Our hope should be that sane people can take control of the Republican Party and lead it away from Trumpism.

HP.

Preference for dog whistles over megaphones and keeping the pretenses of doing the job over shameless shilling does not an FF make...especially when John Barra' [a definite FF] is your opponent.
