What I will say is it's incredible that 1/6 will go down as this sort of Baudrillardian event that happened, but never really mattered to voters.

Kinda sad tbh.

Easy to understand why if you look at it from the perspective of an average voter -no one 'important' got killed or injured (Capitol Police officers don't matter much, apparently), and there wasn't a bloodbath in the halls of Congress.  So why the hysteria about it?

I think people are overestimating how much CRT impacted this race and underestimating how much schools closures during covid(and republican/democratic messaging on that issue) mattered.

Again based on Youngkin's comments on advanced mathematics it is important to realize CRT when used by the GOP with regards to education policy generally means over wokeness in education.

I don’t necessarily believe this but it is interesting how much of a drastic shift this is from the CNN/WAPO polls.

the precinct 2020 map show a progress for Trump in every.single.latino.precincts.

I'm, so, not at all surprised by those exit polls.

It will be a huge earthquake in 2022, this latino realignment. They will note vote RP 55/45 by maybe, more than have 65/35 % vote, Dems will have only 55/45

Inflation, jobs, and scary school books matter more than democracy.

American politics are weird.

I feel like most people in most countries rate material changes in their lives higher than preserving democracy. Like you feel inflation hitting your bank account or you feel struggling to find a job way more than you value the concept of liberal democracy

Political betting needs to go mainstream because I'd be killing a NJ/VA/Byron Brown parlay right now

This result is certainly embarrassing for the Democrats, and particularly for Terry McAuliffe. I personally still believed that McAuliffe would pull it out, but it's clear that Youngkin had momentum. And McAuliffe ran a terrible campaign. If Democrats can't win in Virginia, then how are they going to hold the Upper Midwest next year? Or how will they do in states like Arizona, North Carolina, Texas, and Florida? I'm doubtful.

What's shocking about this election is that it's like 8 years of Obama and 4 years of Trump didnt happen at all.

We're back to 2004. Hispanics and Asian Americans being much more favorable to the Republicans.

Human beings haven't really radically changed over the hundreds of years. They value livelihoods and retaining living standards above all else.

But this time the rural area are even redder than 2004. New Mexico is going to be the state to watch next year.

Loudon and Prince William were solidly Republican counties in 2004 and Fairfax was only Lean D
