Hobbs refusing to debate has to be one of the biggest campaign own-goals this cycle.

Lake hasn't been "begging" for a debate. She's been using Hobbs' refusal to debate as an attack against her, and if the polls are any indication, it has been an effective one.

Debates don't change anything unless someone makes a big gaffe. But refusing to debate does. It looks cowardly and weak even to the vast majority who don't watch debates.

The debate itself changes nothing; but you still have to agree to do it lest you look like you're a chicken.

Your belief is that Hobbs will still win because of how extreme Lake is? That the campaign which she's run matters little?

Smiley

So Hobbesy got towed over the line. Good result, but this should never have been this close given Kelly and Fontes.

I stand by what I said.

You haven't seen the end of Kari Lake, I am warning you right now.
Maybe she'll go on Fox News or something. Who cares?

You'll be singing a different tune when if she is Senator in 2025, Governor in 2027 or President in 2033

LOL, imagine being this delusional.

Lake is FINISHED.

She's more likely to be serving me french fries after this than ever being elected to high office.

Up until a few hours ago Kari Lake was posting about curing ballots and making sure every vote is counted, but it looks like in the last few minutes she's given up the ghost and gone straight to election denial:

Mark Finchem is making the same kind of posts but at a much higher volume. It's exciting to see the Arizona Republican Party immolate itself in real time!

I was hoping some Republican would give us post-election entertainment after even Mastriano conceded.

What's the over-under on Lake, Finchem, and their squad of street corner Call of Duty rent-a-mercenaries trying to reenact J6?

I am happy that Hobbs won..but just because Hobbs won doesn't necessarily mean she ran a great campaign. Her favorables were meh and she just came across a bland boring candidate..this election for me looked more like it was about Lake and in the end Lake acted bit too crazily and ended up losing. I think Hobbs would have lost if Lake acted just slightly more sanely.

I would like to get any insight from Arizonians here on this race and my assessment.

Watch Hobbs turn out to be an amazing governor with presidential buzz after all this lol.

Sometimes greatness comes from the people you least expect, after all. Harry Truman is Exhibit A, and this was certainly a Truman-esque win on her part.

No? The governorships are net even. Lombardo won, and Hobbs won. Every incumbent other than Sisolak won.

And he was Lt. Gov.

Running against Dr. Oz.

They both were running against far more "unqualified" candidates for that matter.

Are you trying to fast track getting banned again?

Or, if you really wanna go there, have you seen Lake with her filter off?

You’re forgetting both Massachusetts and Maryland? But I did forget about Nevada, so I guess it’s +2. Ik they’re not ‘even’ lol I meant net gain.

Not that physical appearance is relevant, but Hobbs is much more attractive

Not that it should matter, but it unfortunately probably subtly does—I do not think Hobbs would have won if she had the haircut she had in 2018. Her growing out her hair probably mattered subconsciously.

Okay, I have to eat my words here. I really thought the red wave would happen and crude materialism would cancel out concerns about abortion and extremism (so used to Republicans never being punished for the things they do).

So apologies to Katie Hobbs for doubting her campaign and also to the voters of Arizona for doubting them. THANK GOD I was wrong!
