I met him at Will Rogers Airport last year. He’s not bad.

Got to love how Oklahoma named their airport after a guy who died in a plane crash.

Technically, the Denver International Airport is too.

Add Butch O'Hare, the WWII flying ace, to this group--though his aircraft was gunned down in combat and was never found.

James Lankford seems to be one of the better Republicans in office. A lot better than Jim “Guns, God, Gays” Inhofe.

No lawyer who wants to get paid would take this case, not even Saul Goodman or Lionel Hutz.

How long should Georgia's recount take?

How long should Georgia's recount take?

They're supposed to be done by the certification deadline, Nov. 20 (which can be extended under such circumstances), but the SoS doesn't think it will take that long.

Is it normal for Georgia to pay for a full hand recount of a statewide election?  Or are they giving Trump special favors because of his *feelings*

I'm starting to think our fears of post-election violence were overblown.

(Not saying there won't be small pockets of unrest, but so far, thousands of Trump supporters haven't taken to the streets.)

*fingers crossed*

I am pleasantly surprised so far.  I was half-expecting Oklahoma City-style bombings, or maybe that will happen after Biden is inaugurated...

Armed protesters showing up at polling sites demanding they stop counting votes is about as bad as it gets and not something that should ever happen in America.

It shouldn't happen in America, but we've been living in an America where things like this do happen for years now. And that is not even in the same ballpark as 'as bad as it gets'. If this ends with the duly elected President (99%+ chance it's Biden) in office in January and nothing worse than "armed protesters showing up at polling sites" I will be very relieved and publicly apologize here for my overly pessimistic perception of Republicans.

Raffensperger is using existing Georgia law to accommodate the recount (which, let's face it, was coming anyway).  There is a provision requiring a "risk-limiting audit" (RLA) of one race, to be chosen by the SoS, in which they hand-examine a statistically significant number of ballots to have confidence that the outcome was accurate.  The number of ballots to be examined depends on the closeness of the margin.

So Raffensperger chose the Presidential race for the RLA in this election.  And the margin is so close that it requires examining 100% of the ballots to meet the statistical requirements.  This way he gets it done by using existing requirements of the law.  Given the pressures he's facing, this was actually a clever solution.

Kind of like how one of Australia's prime minister has died in office after drowning during a swim in the ocean, and then memorialized his name by naming a pool center after him

There's a lot of examples of that kind of name calling. Porto airport, for example, is named after Francisco Sá Carneiro, a PM that died in plane crash surrounded in conspiracy theories. I know many people, who liked him a lot, who don't like to call the airport by his name as it's a lack of taste.

That was probably easier than renaming the ocean. Wink

Biden is winning GA by more than Trump won MI back in 2016

Thanks, that makes sense.  I’m sure Trump will still complain despite all of these accommodations.  Hopefully this recount is on the up and up.

I believe Allegheny county released more votes. Biden's lead now at 53,219.

Biden is probably going to fall below Clinton's 2016 margin in CA at this point.

This compilation of some of the more unhinged meltdowns reactions from some of the more... colorful Trump supporters is something:
