Democrats should be as humble about winning as Atlas Republicans would’ve been had Biden lost.
They probably should but it's a lot to ask given Trump's attitude and the toxicity of so many of his supporters

lol

The left is not going to get far if it keep believing in the delusion that a majority of voters are closet progressives who are just waiting to cast their ballots for Bernie Sanders or AOC.

- 63% support for a 15 Dollar minimum wage
- 66% support healthcare for all
- 63% support tuition free universities

Uhhhh what’s the support for the tax increase we will need to pay for all that tho?

Okay, but that's not was he is saying. Just because people support stuff like that, doesn't mean that they are ready to like Sanders or AOC (you know how irrational voters are). Sanders would have been wiped out in the south in a general election.

Also, Medicare for All is not majority supported anymore, as it has become more unpopular as people discovered what it was.

Democrats are never going to figure out, much to their disadvantage, that constantly trying to appeal to centrism is toxic to their long-term brand and actually achieving what they need to achieve.

Funny when it’s tax cuts we never ask how we’ll pay for them.

I agree with Rick Santorum. Wee need to get rid of the winner take all mentality in politics. I really do hope Joe Biden can help make this country more progressive and make better policy for the benefit of a greater number of Americans. The winner take all mentality gave us Mitch McConnell stacking the courts and might get Democrats looking for retribution but long term it's not beneficial for this country. We do need statesmanship and competency in governance and we should care about all Americans even those who didn't vote for Biden.

I want to get rid of this mentality, but it takes two to tango. I'm not going to say that Democrats should gloat, especially since the downballot results for them were pretty terrible, but if we are gracious and Republican continue with the Trumpist "winning, trigger teh libz" mentality, we're not getting anywhere.

Kind of crazy how Trump did better with non-white voters than any Republican nominee since 1960 and still lost!

Those are vague and it isn't the expansion of the welfare state that turns voters off, it's the anti-market stuff (bad for business, overregulation, killing industries) and the smash the system stuff (defund, abolish, etc) that's utterly toxic. Plus positively identifying as socialist.

Ayo bruh we'll literally spend more on the status quo lmao

Also what do taxes have to do with minimum wage? The government minimum wage is basically already $15.

Shocking, really.  Trump of all people.  Very probably the most racist president in modern times.

Historically, issue polls have been much more accurate than election polls.

Post WWII, definitely. With only Nixon somewhat close at least Nixon didn't publicly express support for white suprematists.

Or the military industrial complex, which HillGoose has repeatedly said he loves.

$1,200 Stimulus checks, enhanced Federal unemployment, and PPP loans.

A class of Trump voters that has never gotten much attention are sole proprietors and small businesses in the trades/construction.

The first politician to pass UBI is going to have a political coalition/machine behind them.

I'm pretty sure Bush did better in 2004.  The exit polls I've seen suggest Bush won 44% of Latinos, while Trump won 32% of Latinos in 2020.

The thing is minorities are a greater share of the electorate. Is more problematic losing them when they are more than 30% of the electorate than losing when they are like 15%. Minorities will still be a problem for the GOP as they share increases (they urgently need to increase their support, not keep their share).

George Bush did reasonably well for a Republican with African-Americans in 2004. I think he got into the low teens in Ohio and that wasn’t atypical.
