I mean I’m glad Spanberger hung on but girl like.... complaining about a BLM attack ad against you and blaming leadership? It’s called a campaign. Learn to run one better next time so you can fight off these attacks.

She's right though.

"Defund the police" sounds really bad.

Cool. No one in the Democratic leadership ever said to defund the police. So, again, Spanberger should be able to run her own campaign without blaming others for nearly losing.

But Rashida Tlaib and AOC were all about defunding and their words were used against DMP and Spanberger

Awesome. Maybe Spanberger should complain about them then? But to be honest, she really should take responsibility for her own election results. Stop scapegoating others for your own crappy results.

Spanberger is saying that the leadership should have put its foot down and tell Rashida Tlaib and AOC to knock it off, or else...

LOL Yeah let's muzzle the best rising star in the Democratic Party and pulverize youth turnout.

Deflecting blame is pathetic. Put forward a vision instead of handing Trump and the GOP the narrative.
The best rising star? Kamala Harris?

Anyway, we are putting forward a vision. They just suck up all the oxygen in the room. And for the record, I think kicking them out of the caucus is a bridge too far but asking people to change their messaging is fine. Don't identify as a democratic socialist. It doesn't actually accomplish anything and distracts voters from real messaging. Don't use the phrases "abolish" and "defund" when you're really talking about reforming flawed but not unpopular institutions. Push left behind the scenes if you like but always pretend to be more moderate than you actually are.

I agree that that is the correct take. The fact that these exit polls are demonstrating overwhelming, cross-party favor for universal healthcare and green energy initiatives means that the progressive position on these issues is the moderate position. Florida passing a $15/hr minimum wage means there's a disconnect somewhere. Progressives need to emphasize that their positions are, actually, very much so in perfect alignment with the majority. It's the conservatives blasting support for tax cuts and oil subsidies that are out of step. I'm not sure how best to actually craft that messaging, but as long as working class voters are swayed by Trumpism and culture war nonsense, the Democratic leadership is doing it wrong.

There is a disconnect somewhere. its that you don't need to take the furthest left position on EVERYTHING. The cultural issues are what lose Dems races. "Defund the Police" for example, was the STUPIDEST f***ing phrasing I have ever heard and the fact that certain members of Congress were pushing it is ridiculous.

Anyways, if these losers are looking for someone outside of themselves to blame for their electoral performance, why don't they blame Robby Mook? Have no idea how they gave that clown the Majority PAC after 2016's unmitigated embarrassment.

As I’ve said before, I think Hillary’s campaign has been at least somewhat vindicated by the closeness of this election. Despite everything seeming to favor Biden more, despite him correcting basically everything her campaign was criticized for, he still only did slightly better. It’s enough, sure, but it’s not nearly as huge an improvement as you might expect. Pretty clear now that it’s less that Hillary was a bad candidate with a bad campaign and more that Trump just is not easy to beat due to how much he fires up WWC rural voters.
It seems that people didn't want to acknowledge Trump was a genuinely strong candidate in his own right.

yeah trump is so strong that he looks like he is about to lose 2 red states like AZ and GA while Barely winning TX

no other republican in my life time has ever struggled that badly in any those states
You are such a partisan hack at this point it’s outrageous.

That attack was uncalled for and I said or did nothing to justify it
I have never ever attack anbody on here nor have I ever went after someone personally for disagreeing with me

So to come out and call me a hack just because  I pointed out of the fact No republican in modern history has ever struggled that badly in TX.

its a silly attack that says way more about you than it does about me

So a hard campaign to make sure Republicans don't use mail voting is leading to little to no Republican mail votes? Shocking!

Anyway, I don't think it's too much to ask house Democrats to blacklist the words "socialism", "defund", and "abolish." It isn't helping anyone.

I think you're right. Dems can advocate exactly what they have been without feeding the GOP's propaganda machine. And when the GOP pulls out their snarl words, the Democratic reply can be, "Republicans just hate anything that helps regular Americans instead of their wealthy donors."

have to say, polling errors aside, the political analysis about Pennsylvania was correct based on the election results.  Biden's margin is coming down to doing better than Clinton in NEPA, stopping the bleeding in rural counties, while juicing up margin and turnout in suburban Philadelphia.  All three things appeared to have fallen into place for Biden.

Do you really? Or do you just like that the democrats will be back in the white house?

Most democrats I know, all agree that Biden is an awful candidate on the basis that after 47 years he's still achieved nothing in politics, is likely taking corrupt money from foreign governments and changes his positions on core policies to suit the mood.

I like Biden for Biden.  He's a class act, a decent man, a "good" politician, willing to work across the aisle, recognizes the power of bipartisanship, and has a strong desire to restore decency and respect to the Oval Office.

Your guy is the most horrid person ever to be president of this country.

Fair enough. I respect your opinion.

Out of genuine curiosity - do you have any curiosity or wonderment for Hunter Biden and James Biden having a track record over decades for coincidentally earnings contracts in countries where Joe Biden had responsibility for U.S foreign policy, despite both James and Hunter having no experience in those industries and no experience doing business in those countries?

Yeah because Ivanka Trump is totally qualified to go abroad and represent the US at official events.

With all due respect, it does raise eyebrows when you answer a question by completely avoiding the question and deflecting to issues about the Trump family.

The Trump family's issues are well documented. Everyone knows about them and to some extent I agree with you.

But I'm genuinely curious what you think about James and Hunter Biden's business dealings in countries where Joe Biden had responsibility for U.S. foreign policy.

Reported for deliberately sidetracking the thread.  You have been asked nicely to take this discussion to its own thread.

Is this actually a change?  NYT has these vote numbers, but they still say 86% counted.

To answer this as a Biden lover, I don't think Joe had anything to do with it I wouldn't call it corruption--although I do find Hunter's actions distasteful. I think Hunter actively used his name to get good jobs and contracts but I don't think there was ever a quid-pro-quo going on.

I've been trying not to cast doubt on this stuff but how is it possible that Nevada has 90% of its voted counted now but it's going to take them a week to count the rest? Penn getting called late tonight wouldn't be that weird, it's taken a few days to call states before but there's no reason for Nevada to be like this especially since it isn't even that big of a state. Hopefully Trump does not have "people" challenging all the ballots and slowing it down as one person suggested.

It's not even playing to the right wingnuts at this point.  The majority of them believe this is over.  FoxNews hasn't been playing the Trump propaganda game and is even standing by their Arizona call.

Why hasn't GA-07 been called so far btw? Bourdeaux leads by 9000 and McCormick won't net this.
