Biden probably does better in Pennsylvania than Wisconsin and Michigan.

Every instinct everyone had about this election was wrong, wow.

Hot take: in the end, COVID changed next to nothing.

Agreed. The pandemic only intensified partisan polarization and deepened the loyalty of Trump's base to him, while increasing the determination of the Democratic base to get him out. It's clear from these election results that this country is split virtually 50/50 between those who despise Trump and those who support him.

Trump never had majority approval. He won in 2016 with 45.9 % of the vote. He will end up with 46-47% in 2020. The country is not split 50/50. If it were, he probably would have been re-elected.

The biggest shifts weren't by region, race, age, or any of that.  It was education.  The GOP is quickly turning into the party of dummies.

And this is precisely why we got the result that we did. You wonder why Trump's supporters are so dead set against Democrats now? It's this kind of condescension that only intensifies their loyalty to him and to Republicans.

“They called me stupid, so I’m going to prove them right!”

Never made much sense to me tbh.

Its actually hilarious how Dems start trashing Cubans as greedy trash once they decide to swing one way after they nearly voted for Clinton in 2016.  You do realize these are one of the most elastic groups of voters in atleast a relatively close state?
Why not try winning them instead of trashing them?

That's fine.  America is getting smarter, Republicans are getting dumber.  I'll align with America.

That's the equivalent of Romney's 47% comment, which sunk him.

Agree. It's not their fault that they're uneducated. The system failed them. The GOP has been intentionally undereducating these people for generations now, and this is the endgame. This doesn't mean they're permanently in the GOP camp, but it does mean they've been taken for a ride by malicious actors.

there's like one person on here trashing Cubans.  most people just think Trump manipulated the situation in South Florida like the con man he is.  Bottom line is Miami Dade didn't do it alone.

Yeah, "BIDEN IS A COMMIE WHO'S GOING TO SELL OFF THE COUNTRY TO MADURO" is obviously a crock of crap, but believing it doesn't make you a bad person, just one susceptible to a certain type of fearmongering.

Even if Philly has "only" 170k votes left, that's probably enough for at least a 140k lead for Biden which would reduce Trump's margin to about 26k. Plenty left elsewhere to erase that. Biden probably does better in Pennsylvania than Wisconsin and Michigan.

Philly, Allegheny, Bucks, Lehigh combined net about 170k for Biden by my calcs. Biden probably gains around 70k from the rest of the state

So you're thinking 75k Biden margin by the final count?

A little more of GA came in. Trump is now down to 49.6% (+26K votes). GA is still at 95% reporting with some parts of ATL missing more than 10%.

I wouldn't have put it the way that poster did, but the GOP has taken a n increasingly hostile attitude toward education. If a person is educated they are considered elitist. With that said the GOP would of course want to build a base made up of low information people, because those people are easier to get votes from by using over the top rhetoric and outright lies.

That's Trumps entire thing, play to peoples fears. I'm actually surprised he didn't nationalize the virus into some anti-China thing.  That probably would have been more effective than denying it existed.  I guess he tried with his racist "China virus" stuff but he couldn't stay on message.  But apparently the GOP was on message in South Florida for a long time...

Almost like Russian actors also targeted the GOP base for the same reason.

I'm aware of this, but this is as close to a 50/50 result as one could envision, given the Democratic advantage in the popular vote. And this is certainly at odds with many of the polls we saw, which had Trump stuck in the lower 40s throughout much of the year. It's clear that most of the undecideds broke his way in the end. And I think it's risky for you to say that the support he has is trivial. If it were not, we would not have to endure such suspense to get the final result.

I mean one dem called them worms all the way down, and 3 people supported that, would have at least expected more people to call them out.

Maybe I get trashing rural deep southern white voters, they really aren't gonna vote for the Dems anyway, but these Cubans are absolutely winnable, they are very elastic and key for Dems to winning this state.
