Very nice to see Leicester lift the FA Cup, and what a goal to win it.

Great to hear!

That being said, I thought the final was tomorrow, otherwise I would have watched lol

Arsenal dramatically keeping our European hopes (and more importantly, the prospect of a St. Totteringham’s Day) alive with a late win over Crystal Palace.

It was of course also Roy Hodgson’s last ever home game after 45 years as a manager. A remarkable career in so many ways, but, in my opinion, his finest achievement will always be taking Fulham to the Europa League final.

Sunday will be a big feast day for Premier League football, as Arsenal, Everton, and Sp*rs (and mathematically longshot Leeds) are bunched together for the right to claim the 7th (and UECL) spot. West Ham is in 6th, but could slip to 7th.

Key fixtures:
ARS v. BHA
LEI v. TOT
MCI v. EVE
LEE v. WBA
WHU v. SOU

Table:
WHU: 62 [+12]
TOT: 59 [+21]
EVE: 59 [+4]
ARS: 58 [+14]
LEE: 56 [+6]

As for the final 2 UCL places, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Leicester City are all separated by a point.

Key Fixtures:
LEI v. TOT
AVL v. CHE
LIV v. CRY

Table:
CHE: 67 [+23]
LIV: 66 [+24]
LEI: 66 [+20]

The title and relegation spots are already decided.

Poetic way to conclude his career at his boyhood club. What he did at Malmo (5 titles on the trot) is extremely under-appreciated in England because people think anyone can win the Swedish league with Malmo, but they hadn't won in 7 years before he got there, and it took them a decade and a half to climb the summit again after he left. Only Bobby Robson has achieved more as an English manager abroad.

I am not exactly pleased with the Juventus victory in the Coppa Italia, although Atalanta has still an opportunity to crown yet another fantastic season this weekend, when it has good chances to finalize a second place in Serie A which would be its best result ever in the history of the league. Gian Piero Gasperini is so impressive.

Meanwhile, Spezia has officially avoided relegation! This has definitely been a positive season, even a fairly impressive one between reaching the quarter-finals in Coppa Italia and the fact it was considered by many the most likely candidate for relegation before the start. All three teams which will go down are ones I don't care for, so I am contented.

The teams promoted from Serie B are an interesting bunch. While Empoli has been going up and down for quite a while now, it will only be the third ever Serie A for Salernitana - shoutout to Sprouts - after 1947-1948 and 1998-1999, and the third team will be either Cittadella (first time ever) or Venezia (first time in two decades).

This La Liga season was in many ways a story of which team could do the most to lose it, but in the end, Atleti are worthy winners.

Interesting info from the Iberian Peninsula: For the 1st time since the 1969-70 Portuguese and Spanish leagues, the "second" teams of the capitals of Portugal and Spain, win their respective Leagues.

Sevilla deserve it for not betraying their country, but yes, on the pitch, Atleti were the best over the course of the season. It's incredible how hard they made it for themselves in the second half of the season. Imagine if they didn't sign Suarez...

The final day of the PL season brought out excitement and disappointment.

For Arsenal (despite winning 2-0 over Brighton), Everton, and Leicester City, it was a day to forget.
For Tottenham, West Ham, and Liverpool, it was triumph.

For the first time since the 1995-96 season, thanks to Sp*rs' come from behind 4-2 win over Leicester City, Arsenal will not be in any European competitions to end a disappointing season. Also, due to Tottenham's comeback win, St. Totteringham's Day is on hold for another year.  :rage:

Nobody wants to compete in the Europa Mickey Mouse League anyway. I'm sad for Leicester Sad. They play such excellent football. I'm sure any real fan of any team would rather have an FA Cup in the cabinet than a year in the CL, though.

A really nice note to end the European domestic seasons on. When you compare their resources to PSG’s and even Monaco’s, it truly is a magnificent achievement.

Indeed, very good showing from Villarreal!! For a team from a small city near Valência, it's an amazing accomplishment. I was actually rooting for them.

Just for curiosity, there was a Porto vs Belenenses game for the Portuguese Cup in 2010, that had... 30 penalty shootouts.

Also good to see Emery getting the level of respect he deserves in the English media. In the Europa League era, the only other winning team that operated at a similar financial level as his Sevilla or Villareal teams was Porto, and that was one of the most talented Portuguese teams in recent history. And Emery won it 4 times.

Looking back, a 70 point season and a Europa League final was a pretty good job with the quality of players he had at Arsenal, too...

Yeah, I’m really happy for him. The way he was treated by fans of both Arsenal and other teams, and the media, was very unfair and at times with barely concealed xenophobia. On that note, the BT Sport coverage was a total joke, with an all ex-United panel of pundits belittling Villarreal for the entirety of the buildup. The final result was fantastic poetic justice.

With Villarreal's Europa League win, they also get a Champions League group stage place.

And it increases the odds immensely that Porto, my club, gets sorted into very hard groups, because of how the draw works. Something like Bayern-Liverpool-Milan. A shame, because I was really proud of how far they went this year.
