Nate Silver's been incredibly woke here. He's a needed reasonable voice in the midst of chaos.

Every time I see one of you posting a smug headline about an antivaxer/republican/libertarian dying of covid or being hospitalized for it I use one of my 57 twitter sockpuppets to do anti-vaccine posting.

I guess that's true commitment to a death cult.

Mississippi is mandating that all people who test positive for COVID-19 isolate for 10 days.

Those caught flouting the order will be fined $500 and might face imprisonment for six months.

-------------

Mississippi’s Poison Control is reporting an alarming uptick in calls from people who took a drug bought at a feed store meant to deworm livestock.

Some believe it will help with COVID-19, but veterinary experts warn if you buy it at a feed store, it could possibly leave you paralyzed.

“Everyday, everyday, people, phone calls, phone calls, people coming in,” Raina Boudreaux at Double M Feed, Garden & Pet Supply describes.

Forcing people to quarantine? Trying to stop you from horse de-wormer?  It's like the Taliban have taken over Mississippi too.

Despite being fully vaccinated the hysterical push/borderline psychotic reactions towards the unvaccinated that we've seen with red avatars here/libs on twitter combined with our being in one of three scenarios 1) either the shots are ineffective 2) delta should be renamed "vaccine side effects" 3) the control freak types are just THAT unable to even leave the vaccinated alone with garbage covid rules rules has converted me to being anti-covid 19 vaccine over the past two months.

What's happening is that the adults in the room have finally grown tired of the petulant children delaying a return to normal and causing a huge number of needless deaths and serious illness.  Thanks for clarifying that you stand with the second group, though.

Well, I suspect that if the 360 million vaccine does already administered in the U.S. (and nearly 5 billion worldwide) won't convince you, the additional ones from the military probably won't make the difference.  Welcome to the Ignore list.

Good news

I'm happy that my home state is finally getting some great news on covid because things has been getting really bad down here. Over the past few days I have lost friends and family member to this damn virus. even my next door neighbor sadly lost her life to covid

So I'm glad there is at least some light at the end of the tunnel and thanks Matty for sharing this awesome news

Sadly it appears Louisiana is getting to the point where it reached herd immunity the hard way

1) terrible first wave at same time as NY
2) awful summer wave 2020
3) awful winter
4) awful summer 2021

I gotta say, Louisiana has been impressive in somehow managing to have the worst of all waves. Even Michigan was spared once.

FL did this to themselves for not voting for Andrew Gilliam. Don’t say “he was caught with a male escort” yeah but that probably wouldn’t of happened if he was elected.

Even with Gillum in office, the legislature would have undermined him so much that this would have happened regardless. Florida never had a chance.

Let’s see how the talking points are doing…

Florida is below the national average in cases per capita
Florida is below the national average in deaths per capita
Florida is near the middle of the pack in cases per capita
Florida is near the middle of the pack in deaths per capita
Florida is doing better than New York/New Jersey in cases per capita
Florida is doing better* than New York/New Jersey in deaths per capita
Florida had a spike but it’s getting better now and it’ll fall below other states

*For obvious reasons that ignore context.

Not looking especially good for DeSantis apologists here, unless we buy into the idea that the Covid statistics are largely beyond his control, which undercuts the argument that people made (conveniently when the statistics looked better) that he had done a “great job” with the pandemic because of the statistics. If the death statistics get worse for Florida, what is the new talking point going to be?
