Does anyone know what kind of medical equipment/capabilities are at the White House itself?

I ask because he's probably getting a chest X-ray and an MRI.

If he's going to Walter Reed for that stuff, it's hardly anything to freak out about. But if the White House has equipment to do that stuff onsite, then I'm not sure why he'd be going to the hospital unless something was wrong.

They said he was going to stay at Walter Reed for "a few days". That directly contradicts Pence this morning saying Trump was going to convalesce at the White House, which definitely makes it sound like his symptoms have worsened over the course of today.

Of course this White House can never be trusted, but they may well be being truthful about “out of an abundance of caution”. It is much better to monitor a high-risk individual at hospital than at home, even if he is not currently showing any particular signs that his situation is serious.

I agree in a vacuum, but they wouldn't have let Pence go out and say Trump was going to stay at the White House this morning if they were planning for him to be admitted to the hospital as a cautionary measure this afternoon. Clearly something else happened today.

Of course, this administration has lied about so much that it could very well be worse than they’re saying.

I don't even think we need a particularly untrustworthy administration to doubt the official story. Remember how Boris Johnson had a very mild case right up until he was in a medically induced coma and they couldn't hide it anymore? (Maybe the British Tories aren't the paragon of honest politicians, but they're around average.) I think probably a Clinton administration, or a Biden administration, would try to downplay the severity at first as well. Just a matter of controlling the messaging.

At his age and BMI there is no way that he wasn't going to be hospitalized. It might actually not be a severe case, but with underlying conditions hospitalization is necessary.
