Would some Americans be better off? Certainly. Would the average american be better off? No.

True of all countries, really.

Obviously, American politics is rather odd in that only the extreme right and center-right are represented.

Haha, MODU attempted to make a joke based on a pretense of ignorance of Left and Right in the 'political spectrum' sense.  Very funny MODU.

Extremists of any stripe do more harm than good for the country overall.

What is "extreme" and what is "moderate?" Are they not relative to the general population?

We should make all socialistic programs illegal. As well as the advocacy of osicalism. BRTD, Blue Dog Democrat and anyone else who advocates programs like those should go ot gitmo.

This is a reasonable position if you are worth at least several million dollars.  Are you worth at least several million dollars, Maggott?  If not, get back to work, worker.

No, I'm advocating socialist programs.  The Maggott is being self-destructive.

I don't care. Shut up and get back to work, worker.

Your exhortations do not motivate me in any way, Everrett, one way or the other, though I must admit that your point is well taken - my decision to 'work', if only for a change of venue, was not a good one.

All my life I have nearly always avoided work - in the few cases I did not it was because I thought it might be 'interesting'.  For example I once drove a taxicab in graduate school.. at another time I worked in a porno shop.  Lately I attempted the role of educator in order to try out a new country rather that wait around at home.

In every case, even though the jobs were in fact often very interesting, the lesson remained - to avoid work is the highest and brightest calling of any young man (or old), and to take up work is a defeat and an ignominious thing.

The US would be better off without both communists and Oscar.  Thailand's loss would be our gain.

Why waste all that money with socialism when you can do the job more efficiently without socialism? The ONLY big euro style program that the US needs is national healthcare(because every other industrialized nation and some unindustrialzied natiosn has it and it saves money). The rest can be handled by indirect things like a negative income tax, improving education and having CCC style public works programs(this also has the benefit of providing labor to modernize/rebuild our infrastructure).

Do what job more effectively?  There is no way to make the worker less poor than to reduce the amount of production his masters take from him.  And by the way, the negative income tax, public educations, and building State-owned infrastructure are all socialist programs, Maggott.

None of us 'care' what the others think or say, Everett.  However it would behoove you to strive, in future, to be more amusing.  You have given Philip a chuckle, but he isn't known for his sense of humour.
