DeJoy is sabotaging the mail-in voting and rigging the recall in favor of the GOP. That's why I think Newsom loses.

Mods please mute.

As someone who isn't really following this, how in the world can the 1 Democrat in the race not get the ~30% of the vote needed to win if Newsom is recalled? A single Democrat should be able to do that in almost every state, much less California...

Are the parties printed on the ballot?

There’s multiple democrats on the ballot and none of them (even Packrat) are anything resembling legitimate contenders. Packrat is only somewhat known because of his Youtube landlord schtick. The CA Dem Party screwed up by not running a legitimate candidate imo. And yes, parties are listed on the replacement section of the ballot.

Yes the parties are printed and there are multiple Democrats running actually. It’s just none are serious and the Democratic Party is not endorsing anyone and even outright telling people not to vote for a replacement. Which I think is fair because the “vote no to replace Newsom but also vote for x to replace Newsom” would be pretty schizophrenic messaging.

It also voted 48% for Trump, not that hard to imagine plenty of Republicans expressing their opinion on their front lawns.

There is a write-in option, but California only counts those for official write-in candidates.

Larry Elder said Minimum wage should be zero, that's why he won't win, but it's okay to give oil companies oil subsidies in tax cuts

Hopefully once this is over the California legislature will significantly raise the number of signatures to get recall elections on the ballot. Here in Michigan you have to get 25% of the total number of votes cast in the last election of you want to recall the governor. If Newsom survives then everyone who signed the recall petition should be mailed a bill for their share of the costs to hold the election.

I'm assuming you can; I haven't opened the ballot yet. But if you can't then I'm Lean or Likely Faulconer.

You can, as there's technically nothing stopping you from casting a write-in vote for Khanna on the replacement question, but that vote just won't be counted like a vote for Faulconer/etc. or a write-in vote for a filed write-in candidate would.

Good to see that you think people should be forced to pay money because of their voting choices.

Just a heads up to all voters of California to vote YES on recall and Jeff Hewitt as the Replacement!

Yes, because a little-known online forum is the perfect place to broadcast messages to California's voters.

(And why should Newsom be recalled? Even if you think he's bad, a recall is the equivalent of impeachment, and it shouldn't be taken lightly, or just because you oppose Newsom. That's abusing California's resources. Vote against him if necessary in 2022 itself, instead of holding an unnecessary and totally unjustified special election that Newsom will win.)

That is not a deranged take. Vote no on the recall and the truly deranged move is to vote for Angelyne as the replacement.

You don't believe that people shouldn't voice dissent with their elected officials in the middle of their terms?

You can criticize the CAGOP for not winning an election since 1994, or for Prop 187.......but Davis and Newsom made a lot of errors.....being California governor is very HARD and Jerry Brown was probably the best out of all of them over the past 30 years......

A recall is NOT the same as impeachment. It is an effort by dissatisfied citizens to have their voices heard. Neither the Scott Walker nor the Gray Davis recalls were seen as citizen led impeachment attempts.
And besides, the recall is happening anyways, so any talk of “wasted resources” is completely moot now and would not change with Newsom surviving the recall.

Regardless of result - I expect Newsom will survive narrowly, which is damaging enough for any national prospects he has or should be unless California Democrats are complete morons - what a complete waste of space this man is. Let's remember that he required national Democratic Party help to defeat a MEMBER OF THE GREEN PARTY in a runoff for Mayor of San Francisco. It's insane that when you perform that poorly that outside resources have to come in to boost you above a 3rd-party candidate (and there's a credible argument that the super-minority Republican Party of San Francisco are what pushed him over the top to give him the win over Gonzalez) you then become the strongest guy that can potentially be put forward to be the executive of California.
