Isn’t a big part of the Qanon mythology is that Trump knows about it and is sending cryptic messages in his speeches and tweets? Isn’t that kinda hurt by the fact Trump clearly is talking about it like he’s only vaguely aware of it?

That’s the thing about fringe conspiracy theories; they will just explain away the gigantic holes with ever more meandering justifications.

Of course, but these people have no logical consistency. They will simply say it's the next part of the "Great Awakening." It must be treated as a religion and not a normal conspiracy theory that can fall apart.

Trump makes Gaston from "Beauty and the Beast" look like the most compassionate guy on earth.

I see we've graduated from Voldemort comparisons and have now moved on to the far more academic category of Disney villains.

Okay, fine.  Pick virtually any established work of fiction you want, and there’s a good chance the villain is comparable in some way to Trump.

Anyone who still has a blue avatar should be embarrassed.
I switched to blue when the Dems put a black woman on the ticket.

Trump didn't really endorse them and clearly has no idea who they are except that they support him.  But people like Ropar will say he did endorse them and so Qanon folks will hear that and end up believing it too.

"Trump has no idea" is one of his defining character traits.

Out of curiosity, did you use a blue avatar when Dems had a black man on the ticket?

In other words, is your party switch based on racism, sexism or both? Tongue

Qanon is now your average Midwestern rural/small town Republican voter. They're the ones flooding social media now with the fake pedo stuff making it extremely hard to do actual work. Couple that with the evangelical southern bloc and you have an evil death cult that controls the party.

I live in a heavily evangelical bubble in the South, and I've never heard one person in real life mention this conspiracy theory, but, sure, continue with your anti-evangelical propaganda.

You live in a well-to-do, educated suburban circle of Evangelicals. It's not your scene of Evangelicals that are driving this.

What a ridiculous comparison. Thanos is purple. Donald Trump is orange.

(Although they both vary quite a bit from their base hue depending on when you see them.)

Former President George W. Bush senior adviser Karl Rove condemned President Trump for not forcefully denouncing QAnon.

Rove called Trump's failure to distance himself from the conspiratorial group during Wednesday afternoon's press briefing a "big mistake" during a segment on Fox News's Special Report afterward.

"This is a group of nuts and kooks, and he ought to disavow them. They might like him, but they like him because they think he is fighting an incredible war against forces of pedographic evil. It’s just ridiculous. Disavow them, get done with it," he added.

The subconscious motivations for believing in religion and believing in conspiracies are virtually identical.

Yeah, if one were to argue for QAnon being a part of reality, Trump discussed it in a way that really interferes with the narrative. Had he said that he never heard of it before the QAnon followers would say that he is just keeping it all a secret from the media. Had he outright endorsed it they would say that "the time has come" or some s***. But instead we get this weird middle-ground between both of them that still makes them look like the fringe lunatics they are as Trump simplistically only minds their positive feelings for him and sort of delegitimizes whatever sort of claims they have of him being this central figure to their conspiracy.

Even taking that at face value, the analogy falls apart because when Falcon says, "On your left," Iron Man accuses him of helping Thanos and then they all start relitigating the snap.
