The GOP is an evil organization.

Tweet appears to be removed, or otherwise can't be pulled up. What happened now?

The GOP is an evil organization.

That is wild, but I would hope folks would be smart enough to realize that they are throwing their ballot into a garbage can. The front of it still looks as as a trash can should.

what's going on here?

I'll be 100% honest here, I wouldn't feel comfortable taking PPE that's being handed out in open public by random activists because there is no guarantee it was properly sanitized or if it was possibly intentionally contaminated by people who want to look like they're trying to help.

Fair but what's with the attitude of those cops and lack of explanation?

Well if there was voter suppression in Brooklyn, it wouldn't be for partisan reasons. Since Dems have control at every level of government there.

It's not partisan motivated voter suppression, but it depresses turnout nonetheless. I haven't lived in NYC long but hopefully the lines I've seen for early voting aren't the same in other cities because with high concentrations of people they need way more polling places.

New York has the worst voting laws and election procedures of any non-Atlas-blue state, worse than those of many non-Atlas-red states. My guess is it's because of a generalized contempt for the electorate generated by the old "three men in a room" model of New York state politics.

Conservatives: Mail-in ballots are unreliable and prone to tampering! I know, because I tampered with them myself!

I'm in small local elected office in Brooklyn (county committee), and it's wild how the machine politics of the state extend down to the smallest government jurisdictions. The District Leaders just voted to take voting power away from the county committee this year due to COVID concerns and an unwillingness to host a virtual committee gathering.

We're slowly working on democratizing things, but it's a systemic issue with the way everything's structured.

What are the "voting accommodations"?  Are any existing ballots nullified?

I wonder if this will energize Democratic turnout even more, as happened in the Wisconsin primary.  Actively and visibly trying to suppress the vote this close to an election is not a good look.

I live in Canada and voter suppression seems very bizzare to me here. I would only ever hear about voter suppression in autocratic countries and in America which makes me question how much of a democracy are you guys.

Anyway no citizen should lose their voting rights matter what( no felon disenfranchisement) and voting should fairly accessible to everyone with universal Id to everyone for security measures

You’re not wrong. That tweet is frightening. Combined with Kavanaugh’s footnote bombshell, I don’t expect to sleep much for the next week.

The US is largely a failed state, Canada isn't.

That's the main difference.
