Squad Derangement Syndrome thread. I don't think it's likely she wins in Tennessee, but it's nice to see someone run on new ideas instead of some generic moderate retired fighter pilot that the Dems keep trotting out in red states.

I know it is Tennessee, but massive HP for defeating the most ""viable"" candidate and the only real candidate really

Though the real HPs are her uninformed voters who voted for her only based on her name or the fact that she was black or that her name was the first on the ballot

If you voted for her knowing her and really wanting a progressive that is ok I suppose but most of her voters did not vote for her on that

Actually that 2 million can now be transferred to more useful races.

Almost like they can't read. There should be some kind of, I don't know, literacy test for voting, right? It would solve the problem of candidates like Mackler not getting the nomination they deserve.

Scratch a liberal...

Well, we are talking about the state dems that nominated an anti-gay conspiracy theorist.

I can be upset at people not reading their ballot without wanting to take their voting rights away.

Will struggle to break 30% in the GE.

TN voters don't like leftist radicals.

The fault's on Mackler for losing the primary. Somehow he managed to have such low name recognition even though he had $2m in the bank that he came in third.

Clearly, this was James Mackler's primary to lose and he lost it. Don't know who's to blame for such a stunning loss, so I'm sure the TN Dems are going to be doing an autopsy.

It's really weird seeing posters get mad a voters or the winner instead of getting mad at the Mackler campaign for screwing it up so badly. I'm sure those reactions have nothing to do with the fact that a black woman won instead of a white man…

This isn’t the first time TN Dems nominated the first alphabetically instead of the more electable candidate

Neutral. I read an article about her, and she's definitely an AOC/Sanders-wing progressive. However, this is Tennessee, and no Democrat is going to win in this state for the foreseeable future. Moreover, she seems to be genuine, and I always think that it's a good idea for the Party to have diverse candidates that are more reflective of America. It is entirely Mackler's fault for losing the primary.

This is kind of similar to what happened in Mississippi in 2015 with Robert Gray.

What I'm hearing here is that James Mackler did such a bad job in his campaign, that voters just chose the name at the top of the list. There's only so much blame you can put on the voters before you have to reckon with that

Why would you assume this is different from 2012?
