People have seen sympathy from white moderates achieves little and is easily withdrawn and forgotten. They are now mad and are showing power to get a response. You may not agree with it but it’s a different path to try to force change. It is beyond obvious that campaigning for the sympathy of the middle to actually take action is a failed strategy.

They are very fine people. Trump should meet with them and make a deal!

Trump should federalize the national guard and send them into every major city tonight.

He's too weak and afraid of real confrontation to try something like that. He's no Jeff Sessions who'd be happy to do it.

There are very fine people within the BLM movement. They protested peacefully in more cities than I can keep track of. To my understanding, BLM didn't burn down Clematis Street in West Palm last night. So yes, there were fine people out and about down here.

There are very fine people who protested in Charlottesville. Not every group represented there was an SPLC labeled hate group. A lot of mainstream conservatives were there without any connection to AIM or David Duke.

You can talk about your admiration for Charlottesville neo-Nazis and racists on a separate thread, Sanchez. No need to hijack this thread about the response to George Floyd's killing.

The sooner people realise liberalism, classical or progressive doesn't work the better.

You're the one who brought this up, than followed it with an unrelated comment that doesn't even address the point I made by, topped off with a sly reference to being a moderator in order to ward off any response. This isn't about George Floyd's murder anymore. It's about the righteous, natural rage diverted into the street on innocent people and businesses. Violence begets violence after all.

I was referring to Trump's cheering on the white armed thugs in Michigan who stormed the state Capitol a few weeks ago. I talked about making a deal, and Trump never encouraged the government to "make a deal" with the Charlottesville neo-Nazis in 2017. He used similar language ("very good people", "very fine people") for both sets of white racists. If your brain went straight to defending neo-Nazis, that's your association, Sanchez. I think that Trump calling these protesters "thugs" while cheering on white Michiganders taking confederate flags and rifles to the Capitol is notable.

You’re allowed to carry guns at protests. You are not allowed to use them. The people in Michigan’s Capital (which was not “stormed” btw) protested peacefully. The people last night did not do so.

Large parts of the US now resemble a failed state like Somalia, Afghanistan or Yemen ...

Its absolutely legal and it didn't directly harm anyone to "storm" the Michigan building
FWIW I believe it should be like the Roman Pomerium and weapons should be banned inside that building but its still absolutely legal and they didn't harm anyone.

Am I the only one that sees an implicit threat when civilians have weapons inside a legislative body?

I saw plenty of guns inside the Florida Capital building. All you need is a license to come inside with it.

I wasn't asking how regularly it occurs.

In the end these protesters did not fire a single bullet or touch a single dollar of property.
As I said earlier I agree that a state legislative body should not have weapons in it but no one should try to compare the groups of protesters. The worst these protesters did was cause some littering with their signs.

In any other functioning democracy it would've been called a coup.
