I finally was able to draw a 14-3 Dem Gerrymander of Illinois! My map has Kinzinger district's get axed and the Chicago suburb dem incumbents are more shored up. Rodney Davis and Mary Miller have to fight it out in the GOP Primary, Darin LaHood hometown is entirely in Underwood's district, so he would have to move out of the city to run in the R sink of this new 17th district. This is like the messiest map ever. lol

Brad Schneider would not be happy with this

Schneider is in the darker blue 10th district, not the 16th district in my map. Biden sti won this hypothetical 10th district by a comfortable 10% margin.

Shocking, I know.

If they can’t draw IL-12 and IL-17 at least Biden +17 then they messed up.

If Dems have any shot of keeping the House in ‘22, I expect Dems in CA, VA, etc, to mail thank you letters c/o JB Pritzker.

Wtf is Purple though?

Is it just an attempt to give atleast one of Kinzinger/Davis a seat who are more moderate than Bost or Lahood?

How do you think Dems feel when looking at the NC maps Republicans look likely to draw?

This is easily the ugliest map of the redistricting cycle so far.

I love it! Pass it immediately.

I don't see the problem. The Republican districts are solidly Trump and they do a good job at separating urban and rural areas. On this map the rural areas Downstate have very distinctive representation that isn't diluted by the urban ones.

Difference ofc is that the NC maps are unlikely to stick, whereas this one sadly will.

Anyway, here's some good pics courtesy of #electiontwitter and dra:

Most interesting I think is the IL-06 sucessor which resembles it's current iteration, but now gets some of Naperville and Palatine to get safer, and IL-03 which became more marginal.

Newman got a pretty crappy district. Wonder if they want Lipinski to come back?

I feel that Newman's demand for the mappers was to remove the Hispanic parts of her seat, since those were the areas that backed Lipinski in the primaries. Which they did, but didn't get give her some more white Liberal suburbs from the seats to her north. Maybe she'll demand revisions after seeing the overall topline.

I fail to see how a Lipinski comeback is supposed to be facilitated by adding rurals he's never represented to the seat.

Seems like this is mostly least change, outside of Newman and the southern IL seat? Obviously horrific though.

Bad map, didn't eliminate Bost and they didn't even make all the seats double digit Biden seats.

Yeah maybe they reorient the GOP sinks if certain people announce their retirement(No point hurting your states seniority unless you really hate the guys like maybe Miller but she has the most red seat.

The downstate IL seats look like double digit Biden seats. What are you thinking of?
