I was simply referring to the nature of the nervousness and panic in that thread as evidence of people entering a psychology resembling "apocalyptic survival mode".

The only way humanity ends is an asteroid,  it's a fact, global warming is caused by media showers that fly by our Earth. We never recognize them, because they arent big enough. We know they killed off dinosaurs,  due to fact Moon is filled with craters. We havent been hit since the dinosaurs, but we live in a ever changing environment. One will hit in our lifetime or not, we should be prepared

Intuitively, I would have said a viral pandemic ... we are not the top of the food chain, and we never have been.  However, seeing how many plagues humanity survived in the past without modern medicine, I think we can make it through the vast majority of diseases.  Even though shows like The Walking Dead or movies like World War Z are just fun fiction, they paint a hypothetical picture of how humanity would react against an unfathomably worst case scenario, and I agree with their fictional assertions that, somehow and someway, we would persevere.  I also get that viruses adapt and evolve based on modern medicine to an extent, but I still don't think that's how we go out.  Additionally, while climate change is very serious, it will not cause our extinction.

I am inclined to pick something like a solar event.
