Liberal Christianity doesn't have anyone in history who was violent due to the sort of people who tend to be liberal Christians, not due to the notion of liberal Christianity itself.  Liberal Christians are reading from the exact same holy book as conservative Christians.

I didn't vote, for the record.  To ask which religion is "the best" is like asking which type of fruit is "the best".  Everyone's going to have their own preference, they all have both good and bad aspects to them that can be noted, and any adherent to a certain religion is obviously going to think that their religion is the best; otherwise, they wouldn't subscribe to it.

I should also note that there really should be an option between "liberal Christianity" and "jmfcst/Pat Robertson Christianity".  It's not as if there's nothing in between.

Right, that proves there must be something inherently good about it if the type of people who tend to be liberal Christians are peaceful and tolerant and the same is not true of all other religions.

Split the other religions the way you split Christianity and I'll consider voting in this poll.

That could be because it is not a religion any more than darkness is a kind of lighting.

Also, splitting one religion between extremists and liberals is hardly fair if you ignore all the others this way.  Lewis is totally right.

Agnosticism isn't a religion though - religion implies some set of spiritual beliefs, which agnostics don't have since they feel they don't have sufficient information to make a call. Atheism on the other hand has the implicit belief that there is no such thing as god, so that might fit the bill.

Not really.  The relevant definition of "religion" is as follows:

"Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe."

Atheism implies the lack of belief in a creator.  Atheism is indeed a belief - the belief that there is no god - but a belief alone is not a religion.

Like I said, it might fit the bill - it depends on how you define religion, I suppose.

Indeed, it depends on whether you use the correct or incorrect definition of religion. Tongue

You would have to completely redefine the word "religion" for atheism to fit it, which I guess you could do, but it wouldn't serve a whole lot of purpose.

'Liberal' Christianity. Though Christianity as practiced by those who are not Pat Robertson et al is 'mainstream' rather than Liberal Smiley

All religions are crap.  But obviously out of this list some are less bad, such as buddhism or jainism.  The really atrocious ones are the christian and muslim ones.

I should also note that there really should be an option between "liberal Christianity" and "jmfcst/Pat Robertson Christianity".  It's not as if there's nothing in between.

Were you always this stupid and ignorant?...What, exactly, is the commonality between "jmfcst" and "Pat Robertson"?

You'll find that the ONLY commonalities between jmf and Pat are those shared by 95% of Christianity.

No religion is good. But some are less bad than others. Fundamentalists of ANY religious(or irreligious) or ideological stripe are bad.
