Too tolerant to gay?  The fact that he's so socially left-wing is the reason I choose him.

Oh, it's that crazy far-left theory that all social right-wingers are secretly gay.  Right.......

Chafee is not a social right-winger.

Complete hoax.

First of all, if you really did have this information and wanted to hurt someone with it, why give them a 6-month ahead of time warning.

Second of all, why would any senator change their vote to Nay just because of this. Then it would be obvious they are the one named, and that the threat has credibility.

It doesn't make sense on at least these two levels.

Vote nay on Alito or they out him as a homosexual?  That sounds like blackmail to me.

Yeah, is being gay 'of value'?  How would Roberts and Alito vote on this, would they be Souter?

No, the nay vote would be 'of value.' The fact that the senator is gay is the discreditable information.

What are you talking about?

The thing of value is what is blackmailed for, not about.

If this went to the SCOTUS, would Alito/Roberts vote for gay for nay as black mail or would they turn out like Souter and be liberal instead of like their president wanted?

I'm going with this one commenter on DailyKos, even though he was probably lying about having worked as a callboy on the hill ten years ago .... :
It could be anyone. Heterosexuals are a tiny minority in Congress. It's just not a career choice that has much appeal to heterosexuals.

Not to mention:  Ensign in 1998, Burns in 2000, and Talent in 2002 had dead-even races.  If there were anything, it would have come out then.  Gay-baiting is practically par for course when Baucus runs.
