Wow, and PS actually won Bragança and got an MP gain. By 15 votes, 0,02%

Right now the only mainland district where PSD is ahead is not in the rural north but our old friend Leiria, just like 2005... still, even that looks close. If PS won it, it would represent an absolute first.

PS finishes ahead in Bragança by 15 votes, which gives them a highly favorable 2-1 split in seats. Costa marches closer to a majority.

Why the polarization btw? It didn't feel like this was a particularly high stake election.

How's the Trotskyist party that keeps nominating Instagram baddies as its PM candidates despite being led by a middle-aged professor doing?

The polls made it seem like it was a close call. Turns out it wasn't.

It seems likely that Chega will miss their goal to reach the 7% mark.

And PS just went ahead in Leiria. Could be a first. A clean sweep except Madeira.

MAS (Movimento Alternativa Socialista) is currently at 0.11% - which I believe is still an improvement over their 2019 showing. Lol.

Badly. You need about 2% to win a seat in Lisbon. They have 1,7%. It will be very close. They’re out of contention for a seat in Porto.

Só Livre will possibly get a seat (2.15% in Lisbon ATM) and maybe Pan too (1.92%)?? I hope both enter the Parliament while CDS doesn't.

Pretty amazing results for CHEGA. From 1% in 2019 to 7% in 2022. Far-right slowly on the rise in Portugal.

The rise of IL and CHEGA affected PSD negatively, although not by much (stable numbers in comparison to 2019, when gains were expected). Meanwhile PS success is reflected on BE and PCP presenting bad results, especially BE.

Yes, Livre and PAN will probably both win a seat, CDS is in doubt

PS needs about 43-44% of uncalled seats for a majority

The large number of seats in Lisboa is going to work against them as the threshold to get seats there will be low (something like 2%)

Livre is actually doing better than 2019 so they’ll definitely make it in. PAN’s seat is at risk but they’ll probably make it in as well.

Half of seats called

PS - 66
PSD - 42+2
Chega - 2
BE - 1
IL - 1
PCP - 1

115 left to "call". PS needs 50 more for a majority.

The leadership of Costa is undisputed, regardless the PS gets a majority or comes close  to it

Is the PPM running?

Just running alone in Madeira, and running in a coalition with PSD.CDS in the Azores.

Just running alone in Madeira, and running in a coalition with PSD.CDS in the Azores.

The latter of which has lost and fairly badly in the famous island of Corvo. Alas.
