Republicans have lost these elections. Even if the GOP wins MS and LA, it's over. This is going to hurt President's Trump's re-election, makes me very sad Sad

I don't think so. Bevin was unpopular.

DeSoto, MS is Reeves +20 with 85% in. This was CHS +18 in 2018, and if Hood can’t outperform Espy here, there isn’t much reason to believe that he has much of a shot.

But yeah, still early.

Wow, it was an extremely thin margin. Crazy.

Even closer than his 2015 race, if I am not mistaken. Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if some try to undermine the joy over Beshear's victory by emphasizing this. The fact that he managed to win at all, when most people didn't think he had a chance, and in a state that voted for Trump by 30%, is astounding.

Did Beshear underperform in Kenton and Campbell or are those narrow victories good results for him?

Waking up in the middle of the night (I’m in Europe atm) to use the bathroom, check Twitter, and see that Lord Bevin lost re-election made my bathroom break a little more enjoyable.

So which counties arent a 100% in , I hate how the CNN website hasnt separated the counties which are fully in compared to the ones that arent

There's a precinct left in Henderson according to CNN. Beshear is winning Henderson narrowly overall, and NYT says Henderson is 100% in with the same number of votes. I think that's the only precinct reported out on CNN's map. NYT is missing results for Russell County, which accounts for the differences between the two outlets.

Looking only at NYT:

8.1K  Beshear lead 22 precincts

2 in Livingston. .3K net Bevin via CNN
16 in Russel  2.5K net Bevin via CNN
1 in Barren Huh left
3 in green Huh left

Beshear will lead when it all comes to a close. VERY SIMILAR TO PA-18 SPECIAL.

The defense I'm hearing is "Kentucky always elects Democrat governors, relax!"

Relative to the past, Beshear BTFOed Bevin in Kenton and Campbell. This is ancestrally Republican suburbia. Bevin 2015 and Trump both won them by double digits.

Green county also has some out, but it cant be more than a few hundred or so.

A Republican governor has never won re-election in KY in the state's history

Given that these counties are historically Republican, I would say that his victories were good for him, and are helping to contribute to his lead over Bevin.

No. McConnell is still Safe, though I wouldn't be surprised if he won by roughly the same margin that Rand Paul did in 2016 (~14% or so).

Yeah, Beshear's results in Kenton and Campbell were nothing short of extraordinary. That's really the story of the night. If the Democrats can start winning Cincinnati suburbia consistently, it would be huge news for both Kentucky and Ohio politics.

The only bad thing about this win in KY is now a lot liberal are going to waste money against McConnell.
