Yes

Gay people are still people, and we probably should be more liberal on this issue

This seems like it would be a convenient loophole for someone that opposes gay marriage, "I don't discriminate against gay people, I just think that kids should be in the care of married couples."

Definitely no, and I’m an atheist.

Why do you hate gay people, if not for religious reasons?

My order of priority would probably be:

1) Married straight couples (first marriage)
2) Married straight couples (non-first marriages)
3) Non-married straight couples
4) Gay couples
5) Single people (straight or gay)

So yes, they would be allowed to adopt and likely would get to as a home is (unless abusive) better than no home, plus there tends to be more children than willing parents. But they would not have first priority-- children do best with both a mom and a dad, and this should be reflected.

I don’t hate gay people, I support civil unions at the federal level and I wouldn’t be angry with gay marriage being up to the states at least. It’s unnatural in my opinion but I’m hesitant to too much government intervention on this issue.

I'd say that not supporting equal rights for a specific group of people equals hating them. no logical person would say that someone who doesn't support equal rights for blacks or women doesn't hate them. and also, homosexuality is incredibly natural. but regardless, the idea that natural = good and unnatural = bad is an incredibly silly logical fallacy.

Definitely no, and I’m an atheist.

So you're saying that you don't even have religious justification for your bigotry? Good to know.

I don't necessarily agree, but so are candies and balloons. That doesn't justify not selling candies to women or not selling balloons to black people. Equality is a right, and hopefully this thread soon becomes hypothetical everywhere.

I don't usually go to USGD anymore, but I'll just say that we're winning and the homophobes have nothing to do about it, so y'all can keep fantasizing Smiley

Yes, I would. As stated by others, all else being equal, the preference would go to straight, married couples. Sometimes though, all else is not always equal, and I'd certainly prefer a gay couple in a strong, loving relationship over a straight couple who show off lousy characteristics.

Would you apply this to all couples?

The only thing really there anymore for a secular argument against is that there is an "ewwww" factor and that concern isn't great enough to single out homosexual relationships against the social aspect they provide society.
