Disgusting coward or cowards who did this. Possible suspect has been detained, but I don’t know a lot of info about those hurt, passed away, or the one or those who did this.

The suspect is a white, 19 year old male. He used an AR-type assualt rifle. He lived with his parents.

4Chan will never go the way of Facebook, as it’s profit margins for the new higher up would go to zero.

Time for some background: Known by members as Hiroyuki “Hiroshimoot” Nishimura, his tenure at the original imageboard 2Chan was mired in scandal for the crimes of Data-mining. He only left for 4chan after being pushed out of 2ch. for ruining the site. Forget Cambridge Analytica, the actions he did were far more damaging to the site, and ultimately internet culture as a whole.

Very unlike the original creator, Christopher “moot” Poole, he won’t do any action against the hivemind present there. What Mr. Hiro will do is profit heavily from releasing various data of the sites users to the highest bidder; videogame advertisers, various security forces looking into terrorist attacks that originated there, and saboteurs wanting the other side to burn. The only way to force change is for an arrest warrant or some outside pressure on him.

Another aspect is that there is no one left on the site willing to want these changes, even more so than the plurality on Reddit who want a ban on r/T_D. During a rise of fascist posters in the middle 2010’s, moot failed to purge them off the websites even with a containment board. The failure occurred as fascists don’t want to be left alone, only to expand. Anywho moot wanted out, and sold the toxic remains to his successor to work in analytics at Google, where he has a decent life and low profile. Now, the utter majority of members are either fascists, console representatives, or miscellaneous trolls. Only fortified boards like /a/ or /tg/ are filled with “oldfags” as previous locals call themselves.

My point is that the only effective way to stop this is for the whole site to die quickly, along with a subpoena on the various analytics companies buying data. Unlike major corporations, who need some type of legitimacy and order by the stakeholders, 4chan dgaf. To date, the only effective pressure by law enforcement on 4chan was getting the mods on /b/ to scrub real, and blatantly posted, child pornography after severe media attention.
