If you only compare Speaker Gingrich to President W Bush, Newt Was  clearly Better.

but I would still vote for Bush in this matchup(although I take Newt over Cheney any day)

Dubya was a reasonable Governor even if his presidency was a sham. Also the Bushisms were amusing.

Gingrich is the most culpable person behind the tactics and strategems to keep the supply-side stupidity rolling well after the most marketable advocate went to pasture.

Newt's specific humanizing qualities (the love of animals, the enthusiasm for science and outer space) are more interesting than Dubya's are, but Dubya's personality taken as a whole comes across as a little less loathsome. Voted Dubya.
