Anyone comparing this to John Edwards is an idiot.

John Edwards cheated on his famous wife who had terminal cancer with a young girl who worshipped him and impregnated her, then asked a friend to take credit for the baby.. His entire campaign lied about it to the press and tried to cover it up.

Compare to this, Cal Cunningham maybe cheated on his possibly-consenting wife with a fellow consenting adult, doesn't seem to have done anything more than make out with her, and has been transparent about it.

Also, everyone should wonder, how the hell did the GOP get these text messages?  Was it a honeypot operation where the woman ensnared him and then sent them to his opponent?  Was her phone stolen/hacked?  Was she bribed into giving them up?  This is a story the public deserves to know as it seems like something deeply unethical happened there.

This story will fade unless any of the following is true:
A) The GOP has proof that Cal had sex with her
B) There are any photos of them together
C) There's more scandalous texts that the GOP hasn't dropped.

Only A would really create a second bump.  B is defused by Cal's early admission that they did have an affair.  I doubt C is true since they would have used those first, the texts currently out there are just silly.
