ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, NH

Republican: Former MA resident who moved here in the last 30 years, probably has a family, and a decent paying job in the Boston area. Enjoys outdoor activities like fishing and hiking

Democrat: Hipster in the Portsmouth Area. Moved to portsmouth for God knows why and has an obsession with craft beer. Probably a 20/30 something UNH grad working in the tech industry

Travis County, TX

Republicans: Publicly: "You know his name is ROBERT FRANCIS O'Rourke!? What a faker and a SOCIALIST!"

Privately: *Votes Beto, just like they voted Clinton*

Democrats: A very privileged white person who had a decent education and has had little struggle in their lives, yet will common use phrases such as "Ugh, do you realize you making a joke about voting and elections is SUCH a privileged position!?" or "If your personal beliefs are not a carbon copy of mine and challenge my worldview in any way, just unfriend me now."

Libertarians: A sad person fighting the realization that you cannot herd cats.

KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON

Republican: A 50-something white male white collar worker who has lived in the suburbs since his old money parents moved out there in the 70s.  Owns a house.  Re-married with grown up kids from his first marriage.  Might work in tech if he had enough foresight to get into it as a young man, but probably didn't.  Describes himself as a moderate, but probably voted for Trump anyway even if he is a bit embarrassed by it and didn't tell his wife.  Hates taxes.  Hates bike lanes.  Complains about traffic a lot.  Doesn't care for immigrants too much unless they're the "right" sort.  Thinks Seattle is some socialist ghetto warzone and avoids travelling there these days if possible.

Democrat: A 40-something white female health care worker living in the inner suburbs.  Moved here from the Midwest for work about 10-15 years ago.  Single, divorcee with 1-2 kids.  Owns a modest house with an "IN THIS HOUSE, WE BELIEVE KINDNESS IS EVERYTHING" sign outside it.  Describes herself as a liberal but doesn't talk about politics too much.  Voted for Hillary.  Hates Trump.
Probably went to the Women's March last year as her first and only protest.  Thinks taxes are too high, but votes for Democrats anyway.  Pro-choice, second-wave feminist but wouldn't identify as such.  Supports trans rights ever since she watched a TV show about trans people but would find them uncomfortable to be around irl.

Washington County, OR

Democrat: 45 year old divorced white mom, 2 kids, in middle class suburbia. Bachelor's degree, works a white collar job, and does a lot of volunteer work. Not a helicopter parent but not exactly lenient either. Might be involved in a resistance group or went to the Women's March. Anti-gun and moderate on weed. Has a Coexist bumper sticker. May have voted Bernie in the primary but she became an enthusiastic Hillary supporter. Goes to yoga classes and is "spiritual but not religious".

Republican: 55 year old married white man from one of the outer suburbs. Dropped out of college and works a blue collar job. 3 kids who are all out of the house by now. Voted Trump in both the primary and general and still supports him, but isn't too public about it. Thinks the Mexicans are taking our jobs and supports the wall. Drives a 15-year old pickup truck with a faded American flag sticker on the back. Owns a shotgun and goes hunting sometimes.

Jackson County, TN

Democrat: About 80 years old. Lives in an old country house and is a retired farmer, probably hasn't voted for a Republican in their life, and were big fans of Jimmy Carter and John Edwards.

Republican: 50 year old white dude, lives in a trailer with a Confederate flag in the window. On disability benefits for (insert minor injury from decades ago here) and probably a meth addict or alcoholic who occasionally works as a mechanic. Probably was a Democrat until 2008 as well, but think Trump is the best thing ever.

Los Angeles County, California

Democrat:
So ing many. A working class, family man Latino living in the Gateway Cities. A Bernie or buster in Venice or Silver Lake. Affluent celebrities in the Hollywood Hills. WASPy yuppie neoliberals stretching from Downtown to Beverly Hills to Santa Monica. African Americans in South LA. Mixed race 40-somethings in the San Fernando Valley. Newly liberal suburban moms in Santa Clarita.

Republican:
50+, small business owning, evangelical men. Heavily concentrated in the Antelope Valley, but there are a couple everywhere. They can be white, Latino, or Asian. Very rarely black. Many of them have taken to voting Democrat. It's really a one-party county.

This is consistent with my interactions with white people over 30 in King County, be they college professors/faculty members, supervisors, hiring managers, community/hospital volunteers, or members of r/Seattle.

Guess which one is more likely to live alongside Mexican Americans.

Makes perfect sense when you consider the class and education fault lines in American society, and even moreso in Oregon. Most Mexican immigrants also work blue collar jobs, so it shouldn't be surprising they live closer to the white people who work blue collar jobs than those who work white collar jobs.

Democrat: Usually people with a blue-collar background in the river cities or other built-up areas.

Republican: Usually trust fund babies in rural areas who attended private schools and own a lot of land but don't do anything with it.

Wait you're from Jackson County, TN. I would've sworn from your politics you'd be from Republican east TN not from such a democratic holdout in dixie land (so much so that Obama won in 08' and McGovern won in 72'.)

I'm actually from Franklin county, TN (which is nearly as close a Democratic stronghold as Jackson) but I live in Jackson county right now.

I spent most of my developing years in suburban Nashville though, and spent most of my teen years in Belle Meade, which is the wealthiest neighborhood in TN, and Brentwood/Franklin, which are high-income suburban areas. Mostly hanging out as long as I could or crashing with friends/girlfriends to avoid my home life. Those were the areas that probably had the greatest impact on my development, to be fair.

Democrat: Immigrant, either Indian or Latino. Supports better school funding and is pretty involved in the community.

Republican: Italian-American and wants to make sure you know it. Works in the automotive repair industry. Informs you of their political opinions on the bus.

Ha! Yep. I should add that there's usually an age gap between the two as well.

NE Alabama

Democrat: Black people, old people in their 70's or 80's who have never in their life voted for a Republican, or the weirdos at school who watch anime and have weird colored hair.

Republicans: Pretty much everyone else.

Pretty simple.

Democrat - most people with a college degree, probably a minority.

Republican - most Republicans here are fairly moderate due to how liberal my county is. They look and act about the same as the Democrats.

Reagan makes sense as Mondale won Jackson County, AL, but Nixon was right after the height of the civil rights controversy in the south..

I currently am in Davidson County but am moving to Williamson County in a week, so I'll do both:

Davidson County:
Republican- Old money white person in their 50s/60s who live in somewhere like Belle Meade and mostly are "country club Republicans" and are moderate on social issues, though maybe slightly more conservative than the equivalent in other parts of the country.
Democrat- Hipster guy in his late 20s living in East Nashville and going to coffee shops/trendy restaurants and bars.  Hates capitalism even though he is mostly financially stable from his more conservative family.

Williamson County:
Republican- Fairly similar to the stereotypical Davidson County Republican, but a little younger, more religious, and more socially conservative.
Democrat- Well-off suburbanite who was a Republican until Trump said unsavory things.  More likely to be female (young or middle-aged).  Probably won't be voting for many Republicans while Trump is in office, but may return post-Trump.
