Definitely Kavanaugh. Bork was extremely conservative, but he didn't rape anyone.

Your mischaracterisation of my stance on that issue ironically comes closer to slander than anything that has been said about Kavanagh.

Kavanaugh, and Republicans are probably going to learn that the hard way.

Nixon's segregationists had more dignity and impartiality than Kavanaugh.

Kavanaugh, but Bork was pretty crazy himself:

I've never understood the conservative defense of him and the term "Borking" - Bork's views sound ridiculous and his actions in the Nixon administration automatically disqualify him (imo). Democrats were completely in the right for shooting down his confirmation to the Supreme Court.

Presidents should be allowed to fill vacancies that open up under their watch, but the Senate is not obligated to rubber stamp whoever POTUS wants.  But after all these years, I keep hearing Bork as an example of the start of the judicial wars, when in the end it was just the Senate exercising its rarely-used right to advise and consent. In the end, Reagan still got to fill the vacancy and that is all that matters. Somehow this little tidbit was lost over time I guess.

Both are Republican hacks, which is disqualifying. Kavanaugh also seems to have issues with the truth, mentioning nothing of the credible allegations against him. Lean Kavanaugh.

Easily Bork given his existing reputation as the man who fired Cox.

That's just going to far. "Attempted rapist" could be defended, but we really don't know if he was prepared to take it that far. I somehow doubt it. He is most definitely a liar though - of that I have zero doubt after seeing his testimony.

Bork, assuming Kavanaugh's debauchery was truly unknown to Republican insiders.

The Reagan administration knew they'd have such a tough time getting Bork on the Court that they purposefully put Scalia first to at least get one of their dream tandem (they were always viewed as a pair). While Bork and Kavanaugh's views are equally reactionary, Bork's candidacy came at a time before the Federalist Society's mainstreaming.

Bork seems to be much more intelligent than Kavanaugh, but his book "Slouching Towards Gomorrah" was a ridiculous, over the top social conservative apocalyptic vision.

It's possible with Bork that the line about 'genius not being far from insanity' applied to him.

Slouching Towards Gomorrah was the distillation of Bork's real views, and what his jurisprudence would have been on the Court. All of his idiot defenders who clutched their pearls at Ted Kennedy's speech had to grapple with Bork's very real unfiltered bigotry once he was no longer auditioning for a Supreme Court seat.

Kavanaugh would easily be the most partisan justice in the history of SCOTUS. The guy attacked and threatened half the country in his confirmation hearing ffs.

He joined a gang rape train, put his d##k on someone's face, was pretty clearly planning to rape Ford(or some other horrible thing), his yearbook is damning, etc.

Bork. He caved in on an illegal order from a criminal president. While I suspect Kavanaugh would as well, he, so far, has not had a chance, so he should be given a benefit of the doubt.

Indeed. The fact that this never gets any attention and the GOP has been allowed to spend decades acting as if some blameless innocent man were wrongly smeared by the Big Mean Democrats is ludicrous.

Only a Trump appointee can manage to make me see Robert Bork as an improvement (albeit a very minor one). Bork was many bad things, but he wasn't an alleged assaulter. Actually that might even make Bork better than Clarence Thomas.

Kavanaugh, by far.

Bork was a principled conservative jurist who should not have been rejected.
