I have no idea, define 'handout.'  Do you include things like roads and bridges?

A lot of people may not want welfare, but they have no problem doing things like build unneeded military procurement for make-work jobs (fortunately the excess military bases and the make-work jobs that went with them have been largely closed.)

And, do you include unpriced externalities like pollution as handouts?  A lot of people don't seem to want to pay for the cost of their pollution.

Voters are fully capable of working. But, when you have a conservative gov't since 2010, that hasn't raised the cap on SSA, passed a minimum wage increase or keep their promise on green jobs, then females, blacks, and latinos need a helping hand from the gov't to get affordable housing in lower income.

Yes (because we do) and also no (because whenever we get something, we come up with dozens of reasons otherwise).

This.  I know plenty of people who wouldn't want to "receive a government handout" in the sense that they don't want something akin to current welfare services ... however, they of course aren't considering any deductions and whatnot that they currently get to be "handouts."

Before she got married, my mother qualified for food stamps but refused to take them. She and I disagree a lot but she is generally principled and I respect that.

No, but "handout" is a very loaded term.

I know a lot of people who are against reparations because they consider them handouts.

Then why did he demand the United Nations save his website for him? Also he had a long history of cynically sneaking pork into bills he later voted against.

Yes, I know more than 4 financially stable people who don't care about getting "handouts" from the government.
