lol @ morons claiming this says something profound and bad about AOC. Crowley only had one simple thing to do to take his name off the ballot and his refusal to do so is more than a little suspect and perfectly warrants the criticism he's received. If you have a problem with AOC calling him out, you were just looking for an excuse to trash her.

Her paranoia on this isn't a good look.

He was born in Queens, he's represented Queens for what I'm assuming has been his entire political career since he started in New York politics. It's easy for other people to demand he change his residence. And since there's basically no chance of AOC losing this seat, I don't blame him for not wanting to run for some other position he actually has no intention or desire to represent. She has this in the bag, he's endorsed her totally, there's no use punching down on him on twitter.

Nobody is asking him to change his residence. All he needs to do is contact the WFP and formally renounce his nomination.

That's not how it works in New York.

The only way he gets off the ballot is if:
1) He dies
2) He moves out of state
3) The WFP runs him for another office

It is not a case of him simply renouncing his nomination. If that were the case he'd absolutely be in the wrong.

"Democratic socialism" is a tautology, since socialism is inherently democratic. Anyone who says they want to achieve socialism through non-democratic means is simply not a true socialist.

So Marx was not a true socialist?

The phrase "gaslighting" comes up a little too often for my liking but there's no better explanation for what Crowley is doing. Those who believe otherwise are fortunate not to be initiated in the workings of New York State party politics.

The only question is whether that's all it is - a little bit of petty, public revenge - or whether it portends something more serious.

There is nothing wrong with what AOC said. Crowley has had no problem maneuvering and finagling around NY’s morally bankrupt election laws when it was to his benefit now when it’s not he wants to play dumb and stupid. Give me a f’ing break. Roll Eyes

Is Crowley supporting AOC? Yes.

If he not going the extra mile to get taken off the WFP line since it's actually a fair bit of work? Yes.

Is Alexandria Ocascio-Cortez a 26-year old with a majorly inflated ego throwing a temper tantrum to raise so money? Yes.

Of course the resident establishment hacks are going to defend Crowley sneaking his way on the ballot through electoral technicalities and even somehow find a way to turn this into an attack on AOC. Pathetic.

Of course the left-leftists are against a democratic election when turnout might be high. #ImStillWithHim

We’re in spitting distance of “real communism has never been tried” in a thread about the arcana of bad NY election law

It's a bad look. AOC will still win by 50 points, no need for the dramatic "establishment vs progressive" narrative that the Bernie wing is trying to sell.

It's evident that winning is not enough for some people. This level of paranoia is absolutely ridiculous. She's claiming that he's trying to steal a seat that she's pretty much already won. Unless she has some secrets that could come to light before the general Crowley is no threat to her on the WFP line.

So? This is not the issue, It is the issue of Crowley not putting in the effort to withdraw from the WFP which the WFP state director stated that he can refuse to do, he can be also shifted to another random race where he has no chance of winning. Of course, he won't do that cause he's a lazy pri!k and wants some votes in the general election.

Of course, Clinton hacks are not for the democratic will in primaries and just defend their establishment candidates.

Uhm, no one is against the will of the primary voters. You all win and are still mad. What part of your candidate won do you not understand? There is no grand conspiracy or election fraud here!

If Nixon loses her primary, do you think she'll remove her name off the ballot?

Is Alexandria Ocascio-Cortez a 26-year old with a majorly inflated ego throwing a temper tantrum to raise so money? Yes.

Oh give me a break. You're being a partisan defender of a scuzzy politician who ran a foreclosure mill forcing working people out of their homes for personal benefit until 2017.

Just because someone young and ambitious beat him does not mean you need to go running her down. Whatever your benighted reason for liking a sclerotic, selfish power abuser.

One of many reasons why a vast majority of competitive to GOP friendly seats that are held by dems are held by more centrist to moderate democrats. It's because hardly anyone outside of your base likes your abrasive, arrogant, and radical candidates or camp. Think Ocasio Cortez would win WV, PA 18 (old district, the one that elected Lamb this spring), or even NJ 5 in a GE? Think again. While does anyone have any doubt that NY 14th would be a lock in a GE for Manchin, Lamb, and Gottheimer?

The point isn't about ideology or winning seats elsewhere, so just stop. The point is about picking fights over absolutely nothing when you have zero reason to do so.
