Unfortunately, with his murder, GoTfan has been knocked out as Venice for the time being. He can either rejoin as Venice at the start of 1787 (next turn is 1786) or pick some other realm.

Meanwhile, I'm pleased to announce Not_Madigan will be joining the game once more, this time as Brazil. Welcome back!

Now, after all that typing, I'm going to take a nice break. I expect that 1786 will probably be the most pivotal year in the game so far

I can imagine. Aside from the Rome landings, and even those weren't a complete loss, it was quite the successful operation!

Ehhhhhh...I anticipated some of it which prevented him from knocking me out of the game.  The thing about this situation is that, to paraphrase Omar Little, you come at the President, you'd best not miss.  I'm pretty happy with how everything turned out.  Spain and especially Austria were the most damaged here.

Oddly enough, I'm having fun playing things straight in that game.  Which, I understand, is making some people rather paranoid b/c they've never seen me play that way, but no.  Nine out of ten times you'd be right, but this is that other time.
