Weren't they saying not too long ago that Mueller's report would exonerate Trump?  Now why wouldn't they want that made public?

/s

Pretty sure it's up to Rosenstein and even then, Congress can subpoena the report and leak it in its entirety.

That’s not how executive privilege works, though it’s best to ignore everything Rudy claims at this point

I think a Democratic House majority could snatch it up from the DoJ regardless of whether Rosenstein can officially release it or not when it is finished.

It should probably go without saying that if Trump tries to block it, and Democrats flip the House and/or Senate, they will use every last bit of power they have to obtain and publish it. So if there is a way, it will be found.

All it takes is one senator to obtain it and read it into the record.

What if a senator got it through a leak? And it was big?

Mike Gravel did it with the Pentagon Papers. It would be huge, but not unprecedented.

With a document like this, it would leak. Also, Mueller isn't the sole bit of legal jeopardy facing Trump right now.

Sounds like Mueller is settling for written answers to his questions, for now

I'm okay with the written answers. I don't think Mueller wanted to press the subpoena issue and it wasn't likely Trump would have actually done an interview.

Also “for now,” in my view

Yeah this is my view too. I’d imagine Mueller has a lot of what he needs for a final report but he needs to make an effort for comprehensiveness

He could be doing written questions to see where he wants to go with any in person deposition.

Or maybe he just wants to verify if Trump can actually read?

It would be interesting to see how strong his reading comprehension is.

You are all assuming the answers will be actually written by, rather than at best skimmed over and (maybe) approved by Trump.

Trump just loves to make himself look guilty, doesn't he?

This is daring Mueller to subpoena him.  The question is, will he?

Maybe that's why Trump hires such awful people: to make himself look better by comparison. Wink

On cue, Giuliani walks it back.

Granted judges are lenient to defenders who pled guilty and cooperate with prosecutors but still shockingly light
