What do most prostitutes spend money on?  Drugs, cigarettes, sexual paraphernalia, etc.  That will be a big help.

All that matters is the final GDP. Money always comes over Morals.

Yes, directly.

However indirectly it unravels the whole con game of marriage and family, which creates far more consumption.  If high quality reasonably priced prostitution were available, a great many men would never allow themselves to be trapped in marriage or reproduction, and would also probably be much more leisurely about work.

Uhm, that hasn't happened in rural Nevada... still plenty of marriages there. Thailand has married people too Tongue.

You seem to think sex is the only reason for marriage. Doesn't love figure in, or do you think there's no such thing? (If you don't, then that explains somewhat the rest of your disgusting philosophy). How about companionship? Some people don't want to live alone their whole lives. Plus, if you're both poor and horny, a working wife is actually more affordable than frequent visits to the prostitute. Or are you going to make the rich man pay for the poor man's one-night stands?

Modify: one more factoid. Someone who you sleep with for years and years is going to know how to get you going fairly well.... Tongue

Of course it will.  After all, think of how much money will go into scientific research on STDs?

If we legalize murder it will also reduce crime.
That is no argument, and this is from someone who supports ttal deregulation of prostitution.

Yes, legalization and regulation will reduce the amount of unprotected sex with std infected individuals.  This will result in a lower overall std infection rate.  Less illness means less total sick days taken by workers means increased productivity.

Can't speak for the national economy, but locally? No. The money stays within a narrow cycle and doesn't flow out into the wider local economy.
Various things associated with prostitution can have an extremely an negative impact on local economies as well.

As to Nevada, you must have missed the caveat included in my post - 'high quality and reasonably priced prostitution'.  The services available in Nevada are absurdly overpriced - hundreds of dollars.  I meant if $60 BJs and $100 sex were available from young attractive women throughout the country (maybe half that in the poor South or Rural areas).

As for Thailand, yes, there are married people, but in general there is a much greater fluidity of relationships, especially among the working class.  Men may or may not stay with wives, and even if they do, their straying is presumed to be a near inevitability.  Most lower class people are really only married in the common-law sense anyway.  The stranglehold of marriage over the sex-market is definitely broken there.

Love is a psychological phenomenon that does impinge upon interpersonal relationships.  However its impact is minute compared to financial and sexual considerations.

I'll wager variety would work better for most males in terms of arousal.
