When you are most definitely, 100% not the desperately flailing underdog on your way to a humiliating defeat

I’m really torn on this whole Lipinski thing, part of me would like to see a Liberal Democrat (Newman) hold the seat, but my more “Pragmatic” side tells me that if Newman beats Lipinski, it will encourage Democrats to nominate unelectable candidates in competitive House seats (thus costing them a House majority), and throw Centrist Democratic Senators like Manchin, Donnelly, and Heitkemp, under the bus in November, thus costing them several senate seats. Due to these disturbing facts, I begrudgingly endorse Dan Lipinski’s renomination for Illinois’s 3rd congressional district.

Typical SHLIPPERY SHLOPE fallacy. There are no credible primary challenges to any centrist senators anyway, other then arguably Kevin De Leon, and that's in California so there's really no danger.

The Shill is right. More concern trolling from King Lear.

Illiniwek is just busy I guess.
I know where he stands at least.
Lipinski fans are free to empty-quote it, but they don't have to.

It's such an Atlas move to endorse someone based on how you think the race will be perceived by the Democrat party at large.

Stop being commentators, and act like voters ffs. If you're a pro-life Democrat vote for Dan. If you're a pro-choice progressive vote for Newman.

Why are we not allowed to have highlighted primaries in IL-13 and IL-14?

If IL-10 got a highlight, so should these.

Il-06's primary is also pretty interesting. And thank you for highlighting IL-14. It's also a neat race!

Lipinski is done

We will see what happens. It will be a shame if one of the few pro-life anti-choice Democrats remaining in Congress is drummed out.
FTFY. Smiley

As if to be pro-life is a bad thing? No wonder there are single-issue voters who won't give the Democrats the light of day for views such as this.

According to some abortion absolutists who back Marie Newman, European-style abortion restrictions would compose a War on Women that reflects misogyny of some sort.

I always am appalled to see the views of people, here, and elsewhere, who seem to think that all Democrats must be pro-choice, and vice versa for Republicans. Abortion now seems to be an issue where you either with someone, or against someone. No room for differing opinion.

I'm not buying this JUNK poll.  There are more than enough mindless Democrat machine shills in this district to save Dan.  Let it be so!  If it's not, it will be open season on Catholics all over Illinois.

Really mind-boggling as to why people might support politicians who share their views on contested political issues. Very appalling indeed!

The bigotry is appaling.

It's especially appalling how intellectually dishonest the Newman campaign is.

Due to these disturbing facts, I begrudgingly endorse Dan Lipinski’s renomination for Illinois’s 3rd congressional district.

I think the Democratic primary voters know better (especially now after Jones and Lamb were successful) to nominate candidates who match their constituencies. Ourrevolution may look at Newman's win here as a bellwether but it's a Democrat favored district where a more progressive candidate should be representing it. Lipinski would be a fine candidate against a Hultgren or someone else in a somewhat competitive but still somewhat conservative district. I have no issues with Lipinski winning elsewhere and I think we need moderates just as much as we need progressives if we want to take the House. But here, if we can have a more progressive candidate who could win, why shouldn't we?

Just a reminder for some people who may be posting in a hour or two.

And right after writing my post that says something similar, these tweets get posted that make my point much more succinctly.

I can't speak for all Clintonites, but to me that line applied to after being elected - that her proposals were less likely to alienate hesitant moderates who can make or break bills in Congress. Trump had an easier time winning a general election than Cruz, Bush, or Perry, but they probably wouldn't have lost McCain's vote on healthcare - same thing but flipped across the aisle, at least in theory.

Dan or death! (Sigh... still vote for Newman if she makes the GE to block the neo-nazi).
