One only needs to look at the comments section of Breitbart to know how the Trump base feels about these incidents:

Yet multiple people in the other thread told me I was insane/stupid/trolling by saying they would react in this exact fashion...lol. Atlas is very out of touch sometimes.

Is there a remote chance that women don't turn out for Moore, at the very least?

Maybe some of them. Can't say I know too much about Alabama women but women in general can be some of the worst victim shamers and blamers around. Especially the kind of women that would consider voting for Roy Moore. I guess it might be interesting to see if Martha Roby makes a statement on this.

I think Moore will win, but using Breitbart comments as a gauge of the election's outcome is ridiculous.

The average Republican voter is even more deplorable than me. It's not ridiculous at all.

An election in Alabama? It's probably pretty accurate.

If Alabamans won't elect Doug Jones (very likely), they should write-in Mo Brooks.

This'll add another five points to his victory margin.

Given the way these scandals tend to die down after awhile, this unfortunately may be recoverable for Moore. Remember the Billy Bush tape?

This won't matter because GOP base only cares about this stuff if a celebrity does it and it gives them a chance to rant about liberal Hollywood.

Another example of how the loudest voices for repressing sex often have something to hide.

Disappointing but he is still the most likely to stand up for the Ten Commandments at the end of the day.

Please tell me you wouldn’t put defending religious doctrines ahead of attempted molestation.  Sorry; I can’t tell if this is a joke or not.

I’m a Christian, and I certainly believe in the Ten Commandments, but there is no excuse for Moore’s alleged behavior. And even if the Dem doesn’t believe in the Ten Commandments by name (not sure what religion he is), it is almost guaranteed that he believes in the Commandments themselves.

Trump supporters are known for their lack of: compassion, intelligence, and morality. Their only goal is to expand the Republican party's power. They want what is best for themselves and the GOP. That's all they care about. They think they care about the country but they are in it for themselves and if ignoring rape victims is what they have to do to continue that goal then so be it. What a bunch of "Christians"

The veracity of the story is suspect because of its timing.

On the other hand, if a victim wanted retribution against a political figure, wouldn't it make sense to wait for opportune moments like these?

Yup. Just read the comments on al.com

Tbf, the people who comment on there are probably the ones who are most invested in the race and the ones who are never going to change their mind no matter what. I don't know that it necessarily represents the average Alabaman. I'm not trying to say the average Alabaman agrees with us, but it's probably not as widespread as the comment sections make it seem like. Also, when you're surrounded by people who all say something, it can be scary to speak up with a different opinion.

Nothing short of embarrassing and sad.  I'd like to believe the people of Alabama are like some of the nicest ones I have met from there, but electing this guy would be a real shame.  It's pretty clear I'm naive, and this goes to show how toxic our current environment of believing that there are literally two sides diametrically opposed culturally is ... these people wouldn't trust anything coming from what they view as an "unreliable" or "liberal" source.  I'm also fully prepared for the GOP leadership to do nothing about this dirtbag. Sad  Makes me angry.

(Please, for once, don't give me shlt for being a registered Republican ... you register locally, and I have no problem with the Republican Party of Johnson County, IA and in fact think it desperately needs more members to conter a Democratic monopoly on our community's government.  I have never claimed that there aren't tons of people out there that make it flat out embarrassing to associate with the national GOP at times.  However, if you can't help yourself ... I can't say I don't understand.)

Well In fairness to Republicans, it is Breitbart. Better than 90% of the people who read it are literally horrible neo-nazis. The fact that they are also rape apologists isn't the least bit surprising.

Though in also equally harsh fairness to Republicans, Breitbart has more influence over policy and policymakers today than actual conservative journalism like the Wall Street Journal.

Is everyone a pervert or are we just more touchy and politically correct than we used to be? Cosby, Spacey, Weinstein now Moore. Everyone.
No, a******, even in that decade you revere but have zero first-hand knowledge of, the 80s, conduct like this was grossly unacceptable to ordinary mainstream Republicans as well as Democrats. It is only when certifiably unable to get laid Gingers and their ilk starting using the phrase 'fighting political correctness' as an excuse for conflating being complete twats with conservative political ideology that that question ever even came up.
