The Trump Presidency was good while it lasted, I guess. Sad

Trump isn't going to be impeached unless the Democrats take back both the House AND Senate, and I don't see him stepping down unless he's literally dying or about to go to prison, so...

If Trump resigns, I will immediately become a liberal. I believe in joining the winning side in any conflict.

Because 20-40% of the country will get their "news" from a place telling them this is fake and all lies.

And on cue, Faux is complaining about Mueller and whining about Clinton's campaign funding Steele.

Yep. Manafort seems to be the big name everyone is running with, but it's the Papadopoulos stuff that's going to be problematic for the administration. Here's hoping this will jiggle out more of the truth.

The indictment makes it clear that P is cooperating with the investigation.  At a minimum, they'll know who in the campaign authorized the contacts.  That person (or persons) will clearly be a focus as well.

Remember the Watergate investigation.  It started with arrests for a burglary and gradually worked deeper into the administration.

Yep, that's what I was meaning by jiggle! It will be very interesting to see the connections and how deep it goes. It's terrifying and awful, but also fascinating.

Two different angles but Dems shouldn't get their hopes up of a Trump indictment honestly.

1. Manafort and Gates are being charged with crimes most likely committed outside the scope of their Trump campaign duties, and while it may be posited that Manafort pushed Trump in a pro-Russia policy direction, such a claim could never be proven in a court of law to be illegal unless Manafort has other dirt on Trump (which would be the hope re. Manafort if D's want a Trump indictment to follow from this).

2. Papadopoulos (sp?) plead guilty to misleading statements, which, while ensuring cooperation for Mueller's investigation, is not evidence of any collusion-based crime in and of itself, nor does it point to others in the campaign being guilty of anything related to Russia.

Sorry if any of the above realizations are a letdown. Good news is that if Trump did commit a crime it would appear much more likely now than it did yesterday that it will come to light and he will be impeached as a result. I doubt any of this will, on its' own, amount to much, however. We will see in the coming days and weeks how Manafort reacts and whether anyone else gets drawn in - things were standing on the brink for the investigation with the swamp monsters calling for Mueller's resignation after the Clinton news, and things definitely look a lot better now, so we should at least be assured of a complete investigation now, which is all an honest citizen can ask for.

CNN:

In court records unsealed on Monday, the FBI said George Papadopoulos "falsely described his interactions with a certain foreign contact who discussed 'dirt' related to emails" concerning Hillary Clinton. Records also describe an email between Trump campaign officials suggesting they were considering acting on Russian invitations to go to Russia.

Seems like an administration of traitors and sell outs.

And voters who (still) willingly support said administration of traitors and sell outs.

This should be their biggest signal yet to jump ship and stop supporting this filth of a president.

If they were alive during Watergate they would have supported Nixon until the end too. No amount of evidence will ever penetrate that, especially when their news sources (Fox, Breitbart, others) are telling them it's all fake news and made up lies.

Nixon still had a 28% approval right before the end.

That sounds about right, for where trump will "end" up too.
The Deplorables will always be Deploarable.

What are you expecting? We're only a few months into the investigation, of course Mueller isn't going to start charging the President with collusion before he has a completely ironclad case including several witnesses. We have to see where this goes.
