There was this major car chase right next to my house. There was a white pick-up followed by 7 cop cars. Me, my father, and neighbour were watching, and they almost got run over, but the car that was about to hit them swerved at the last second.

Just asked my boss if the company would pay for me to attend a conference very pertinent to what we do. I was worried about looking self serving, since they know I’m also looking for other employment options afterbgradyating (I can still brief the rest of the team on e’er’thang), but I’m just as worried about missing class in this case. Thought I’d ask anyway since it’d be nice to schmooze the analyst from the host PD.

Uni years were the worst time of my life.

School was easy. You could work out whenever you wanted, hang with the boys all day, have access to the opposite sex, etc. With work, you have a meager increase in SoL, gained by trading away a good chunk of your waking hours. The mere fact of finding a job was an exercise in stress and humiliation.

So apparently Obama is getting an award at my college today, and he's giving a speech at the auditorium. There were like 1500 seats available for students, and like 22000 entered into a random drawing a week ago. I filled it out as a throwaway cause everyone else was and didn't expect to get picked, and surely I didn't.  But this morning I got an email from a Dean saying somebody didn't claim a ticket for it and I was next in line for it. Weird to think about being 1 number above capacity.

I think seeing his speech will be cool and I'll get to skip class, but I'm kinda sad in a way it's too late to gouge 200 dollars out of my supervisor who really really wanted to go.

I'm doing army recruit training for the next month, which is why I'm not really posting It's actually kinda fun in an exhausting way. And I really like the people in my division.

Socialism =/= more government programs, benefits and services.

Received news this morning that one of my aunts passed away. This was shocking and completely unexpected news to the family. Because of the distance from where we lived and limited visits, we were never able to be as close as I am with my other aunts and uncles, but kept in touch online. She was a woman that loved her home and way of life in Savoonga, loved God, and loved her family.

I’m thinking about leaving Atlas tbh. Some people have made it too toxic to stand and I’ve been through enough toxic situations to the point where I don’t want to come close again.

I decided to take a course this term called "Decision Analysis" that's run through my school's MBA program, since a lot of crime analysis jobs involve knowledge of numbers, software, etc. and this covers a lot of data-related techniques that I figured might be tranposable to crime or law enforcement situations. I had a very good handle on the class the first 1.5 sessions when it was all about math and statistics, even correcting the professor a couple of times. Now that it's gotten into the actual techniques, however, I have a bad feeling I'm gonna get my ass kicked. Probably gonna corner him in his office on Tuesday to get the lowdown on how to crack this. Anyone happen to know a good site for learning how to solve linear programming problems algebraically?
