I've been drifting rightward lately yet oddly enough my PM score hasn't moved much in the a little under a year on Atlas.

eh I'm drifting rightward culturally but I'm not a neoliberal hack - a term that I'm not found of anyway and too often gets thrown around as a term for Democrats I don't like. Part of it is that the 2020 contenders have moved to the left so I no longer feel like an uber radical progressive like I did when or slightly before I joined Atlas.

So, yesterday, I took my girlfriend to the neighborhood in which I grew up as a child (I left before I was 10, but I have a lot of memories (good and bad) from there and still am in contact with friends from there). She was shocked at how it looked; said she never saw anything like it. I figured folks on Atlas might find some of the pictures interesting. It’s an incredibly impoverished neighborhood in Jacksonville, Florida, and makes me grateful for how I live now. But I definitely haven’t forgotten about folks like the ones I grew up with.

I have a date in Sunday, hopefully this goes well The newguyTM is really nice and pretty good-looking, though his anti-birth (literally any birth) philosophy is weird and he's kind of a libertarian (though not really vocal about it so it's fine). Also vegan. A complex person, lol.

Well, that happened. I will not... go into details, but generally, it was pretty fun. I'm just not 100% sure it can go in the direction of a romantic, serious relationship. Especially with how far we live. But we'll see- it's certainly the best option I had in months.

It's the Internet Saint, and they're probably all teenagers (like me ) who think they're all automatically correct and full of themselves.

Right wing ideology, and by which I mean the entire spectrum, not just the far/alts anymore is sacrificing itself as a discourse to nothing more than 'gotcha liberals'. It's now entirely reactionary and pseudo scientific. That acts like a bellows to push me further left. Irrational ideology leads to irrational and emotive outcomes. And civilisation loses when that happens.

Yeah I can relate to that, but for me, my ideology has moved only somewhat left, and it is based in part on moving to NY (which resulted in my having different life experiences). But I am done with the Pub party pretty much, so in partisan terms, I have reacted somewhat in a "volatile" manner by ditching a party (after about 40 years of having identified with it) that I perceive has ceased to be of much use in offering constructive proposals (in fact some of them are close to being in the "nutter" category) on public policy issues.
