Yep. On top of making me really cynical about religion, I can trace a lot of my discomfort with social situations to that period.

My grandma has been in the hospital from COPD for several days, and they're going to move her into ICU. I'm absolutely terrified. Losing her is my biggest fear and I'm absolutely terrified right now. I don't know what I'll do if you if she dies. She's the person I'm closest too out of anyone.

I'm very sorry to hear that but you should definitely not lose hope. Nobody knows what may happen, so just focus on thinking positively the best you can. I really hope everything turns out alright for her and your family.

Thanks Jacobin! My grandma's turn for the worse has turned for the better. It feels like a year has passed since my dad woke me at 6:30 AM to tell me to prepare to say my final goodbyes. She's breathing on her own now, and the ventilation tube is not needed. She's not out of the woods yet but we think she'll make it.

It was a blanket family ban because a distant cousin of mine had ties to Hamas, so it extended to the whole family who wasn't already in the county.

This is going to sound weird but some of you folks are like a second family to me, which means kind of a lot because sadly the only person in my family who's still in my life now is my mother.
