Canada is a white supremacist state, obviously.

1- There's nothing about a person's skin color that dictates that they have to vote for a particular political party

2- Jobs are not something that is finite, the goal should be to create more good paying ones

3- Canada allows in about 3x as many immigrants as a proportion of its population, if we really want to copy them we should triple the total level

4- Carry on

Because Canada is 10% the population size of America and would take in 65% as many immigrants, if this passed.  They would reach the dreaded "nonwhite majority" much quicker than us.  I have no problem with the Canadian system, but that is not what Trump is proposing.

It's a good thing that we don't rely on the Anne Frank Centre for public policy.

Again, I in no way see how Miller performed well today. He literally got outraged because Acosta assumed a majority of the people on earth cant speak english. He also said the poem on the statue of liberty doesnt count because it was added later. It was not good.

It's essentially open, free for all immigration both legal and illegal or cutting immigration but being called racist and a nazi on Twitter right now for #StephenMiller and #RaiseAct.

This issue has been overly polarized for years by both sides. Really we don't need millions upon millions of unskilled labor. We do need immigrants but a substantive discussion on a merit based system is warranted. Australia has this type of system for highly skilled labor as a part of their employment visa system.

For too long the Dems have polarized this issue for more votes from immigrants and the poor and the GOP has ignored the substance while ginning up nativism. The solution is a middle ground approach that looks at precisely how many legal immigrants the country needs from an industrial standpoint and going from there.

Miller had no control of the podium and his talking points are laughably bad. This is obviously not going to pass. Part of me hopes a temporary package makes it. Reduce that Latino vote share from 27% to 2.7%.

Trump did specifically say immigrants and minorities are being affected by higher levels as well.

Also why are people saying that stopping low skilled workers means stopping minorities? That doesn't seem right.

I highly HIGHLY doubt this is race based. Again, I would prefer to not see this passed, but I highly doubt there are any racial motives.

Indeed, skilled immigrants are MORE likely to be Indian, Chinese or educated Africans. A policy like this would certainly harm Latin American, Filipino and Hmong, but it's essentially trading one minority group for another.

Have to imagine this policy would also harm white immigrants from former Eastern Bloc countries, particularly in the Balkans and Caucasus

All of these countries have immigration rates 3-4 times higher than current US rates, and 6-8 times higher than Trump's desired rates.

The overwhelming majority that approve "express entry" are white, Especially Poland and Ukraine.

It is an opportunity for Democrats, in the future they could raise rates, it is good for both parties to adjust rates every time the government alternate Stephen Harper did it in Canada.

Just looking at what Hispanics think of legal immigration in opinion polls would prove how obviously wrong that would be.

Anyway this isn't passing congress, the current republicans in congress still largely operate in a reaganite ideology and trump will likely forget about it in a few weeks anyway.

That's why this policy is pretty bad and why I still oppose it.  It ends up hurting at least one group in the end.  Again, benefits for some, losses for others.

In any case, I look forward to hearing how unlimited low-wage  migration fits into the Democrats' new "Better Deal" for the American worker.

Well, this seems a bit interesting (The RAISE Act).

I doubt that it will benefit the country, but I'm just gonna wait and see how this affects things.
