Clear HP. Just like Barack Obama, he clearly is carrying water for the Iranian regime's propaganda and doesn't want them held to account for their violent actions and aspirations to genocide.

Yeah, the Iranian regime is trash, but singling them out for that while shipping weapons and palling around with the Saudis and other Gulf States is extremely hypocritical. Iran is less of a threat than those Wahhabist regimes that outsource their propaganda globally by funding radical madrasas and mosques throughout Europe, Asia, and Africa, which have resulted in globalized extremism, such as the Salafis in Europe, ISIS in the ME, and Boko Haram in Africa. The only reason people like you turn a blind eye to that extremism and have a hardon for Iran is the Iranian anti-Zionist and anti-Semitic propaganda, which the others have been more willing to suppress for geopolitical interests.

Iran isn't an extremist country; its citizens are among the most secular and moderate in the Middle East, largely because they're Shiite and not influenced by Wahhabi radicalization. So, why are you vocal about punishing Iran, yet haven't said a word about the others? Iran's sole interest is fighting a proxy war with Saudi Arabia, whose side we've taken in that war which has resulted in a humanitarian crisis in Yemen. Shiites are the ones whose shrines are being blown up and whose adherents are being systematically targeted for genocide by Islamic fundamentalists (Shiites are the sole group who ISIS says cannot even repent to save their lives; anyone found to be a Shiite is automatically sentenced to death). Where's your outrage on all that? Where's your outrage about arms deals and treaties with the Saudis, who fund extremism? Why's Iran such a target for you when a grand total of 0 Iranians have been involved in terrorism that has resulted in the death of Americans?

It's stated policy of the Iranian regime that they're going to kill half the world's Jews as soon as they have the opportunity.

Anyone aiming to prevent them from being held accountable for that is disgusting, but then, I already knew that about Bernie.

Lmao yeah a Jew who wants to help Iran kill half the world's Jews.

That statement is totally misleading & false. Iran opposed Israel for its occupation of Palestine (& other reasons) & has taken a terrible stand of Israel (threatening to attack & kill Israelis is deplorable). Iran doesn't systematically plan to attack & kill Jews all over the world. It is coincidence that a huge share of Jews live is Israel & not necessary an attack on the religion but more to the state of Israel.

BTW Iran has never started an official war in 100's of years, probably never in their modern history of their nation state. A proxy war through support of some foreign elements, but never a direct war. And everyone in their right mind knows they will never attack Israel. And Israel has a huge military, the Iron Dome, secret Nuclear weapons (which Iran doesn't).

Iran had some of the most empowered women of any Muslim country. If US hadn't brought regime change through killing a democratic secular leader Mossadegh, they would be a terrific Muslim state. Iran has great art & movies, they have empowered women entrepreneurs & Shia Islam used to be more tolerant & inclusive (& still is compared to Saudi Wahhabism). Saudi on the other hand is a hellhole & they are funding terrorists all over the world & spreading the ideology of ISIS. Iran is getting their buildings blown by ISIS (who are Sunni radical groups who hate Shia Islam).

I agree with his reasoning for the decision. The news cycle of course is leaving it out. Trump would have legitimate reasons to veto this if he wanted to.

There are 40 some Democrats who support the Iran deal who voted in favor of sanctions. How strong a case can really be made that voting for this would somehow open the door for the Iran deal falling apart?

Sanctions (aside from arms ambargos) are the most overrated diplomatic tool around IMO. They don't really work beyond building a siege mentality, and normally always hurt the population most (or used as part of the autocrat's blame game when he wants to build the aforementioned siege mentality). They are used by leaders who want to look TUFF but don't want to literally start a war. Especially the design of these sanctions which are completely unilateral.

Please tell me what a singular vote for or against a bill that passes 98/7-2/3 would do either way.

For that matter, please tell me how sanctions on the Russian or Iranian economy is going to save Russian or Iranian lives. I'm really curious about that one.

It reminds me of how, according to Atlas logic, Tulsi Gabbard, who isn't white, is part of the alt-right.

Sanders doesn't want to help Iran kill half the world's Jews, but his far-left wing philosophy blinds him to the fact that that's what he's encouraging.

Okay, but that doesn't exactly present any alternative reason to support the bill other than Sanders and is God and all other Democrats are neoconservatives. But whatever

Him and Rand were the only two no's.
Good for them.

Sanctions typically have been shown to be ineffective, don't hurt the government leaders that much, and hurt the common people who are just trying to live their lives.
