Come on my fellow Democrats, just stay united, and we can defeat the orange cancer.  Is that really too much to ask?  The Democratic nominee may not be everyone’s first choice, but there’s a greater chance that the world will end this year than the possibility that the Democratic nominee isn’t more than just a little preferable to Trump.

The greatest trick Trump has ever pulled was convincing voters that he was a honest and successful businessman.

Horrible Analysis that's often a slap in the face to the fundamentals of political geography and demographics.

People who think the Senate isn’t representative enough clearly don’t understand the purpose of the Senate to begin with.

I find the county map for the 1976 presidential election in Alabama very aesthetically pleasing. a sea of rural red counties for Carter with pockets of suburban blue for Ford.

So #populist<3
that map is basically "here are the most urban counties in Alabama".

I disagree about the EC, but this is a good argument.

Assuming we keep the electoral vote system, I like the idea of states dividing their EVs proportionately (e.g. if a state has 10 EVs and one candidate gets 50% of the vote, another one get 40%, and a third one gets 10%, then candidate A should get 5 EVs from that state, candidate B gets 4, and candidate C gets 1.).

reminder that John Kerry was very close to winning the EV while being blown out in the PV

... he didn't, though? Your point?

A Kerry presidency wherein he won the EV/lost the PV would've been just as wrong as Bush's & Trump's, regardless of the potentially positive political implications for the left.

my point is to attack the Republicans here who believe that anybody who attacks the moronic and antidemocratic EC is motivated by partisan hackery.

It is, though

And if Kerry won with a PV/EV split, all if you would call his Presidency, legitimate, while you won’t do that for Trump or Bush

So I’m suppose to like Reagan because he was for some gun control measures that I am not necessarily for? I love it when fiscal conservatives try to use gun control to win a supposed liberal like me over.

Reagan literally cut the tax rate down significantly for the billionaire class, made lies about welfare queens, fired air traffic controllers who were on strike, and increased taxes for the middle class, and shifted the Overton window right in a manner that led to two corporate backed political parties. Wow, he supposedly is a little better than Bush and Trump! High bar. Guess he should get a medal.

Ronald Reagan is responsible for the mess of today for taking up a power vacuum that allowed the Overton window to shift rightward. I hate him.

"Guilt" alone is worth nothing.

If you genuinely think that you and/or a group you are a part of has inherent advantages, then go and do something about it. But pontificating about it while doing nothing is worse than useless.

The answer is objectively Alaska due to the miserable cold- unless you could afford to have it as only a summer home
You could afford to have it only as a summer home.. so what is your point?  And Santander and the other abortionists are right.. Anchorage and the panhandle aren't that cold.

I wouldn't trust a Minnesotan' s opinion on "not that cold". Tongue

Biden will win all 50 states

In fact, no state will be within 5 points

Bernie Sanders is a sack of dung

This is the kind of analysis I visit Atlas for.

Clearly there's nothing more important (like solving actual problems) for the DOE to be doing than create the terms "freedom gas" and "molecules of US freedom".

Excellent!  Now the ball is in Madigan's court.

Hopefully he blocks it

He should do at least one good thing for Illinois, and that good thing is blocking marijuana access (which should be illegal nationwide)

It's funny because you're one of the people who could benefit from a joint the most.

Thinking that I would use a substance that should be illegal Roll Eyes

Biden slurring again this time in his own video from his campaign (at 32 seconds and 36). If he's slurring his words throughout the debate next month especially standing next to younger candidates I just can't see how he maintains his support.

Yikes!

It's why my Muslim friend is very eager to promote the 'festival' and communal aspects of his faith to converts rather than the textual or doctrinal aspects.

To get back to the subject of this thread, this is actually exactly why I think it's stupid to use muh birth control as the go-to example of American Catholics being "de facto Protestant". It's essentially the same litmus test of who's "really" Catholic that right-wing culture warrior Catholics use, only with different normative conclusions. Adherence to a difficult, poorly understood, almost uniquely unpopular doctrinal and moral stricture is certainly a measure of devotion, but I'm far from convinced that it's the best one, and it's definitely not the only traditional shibboleth between Catholicism and Protestantism that most American Catholics' mindsets fall closer to the Protestant side of. "Optional" attitudes towards Mass attendance and rife misunderstandings of what is and isn't a holy day of obligation are only one example of another such shibboleth.
