At 50-49 the GOP can elect the Speaker of the Virginia House for the session. Victory to the GOP!

What a resounding victory it is to lose almost a quarter of your seats.

That was an awful election in every way but still it could’ve been worse.

He said that he wouldn't approve of the draw, so is he going to be logical and challenge this?

Yeah, I'd wager we get another recount.

Possibly. Maybe higher turnout due to Virginia having state senate elections in 2019 but I doubt it. Virginia turnout is always below 50% in non-presidential years.

Rigged. Burn down the Democratic Party for letting this happen.

Simonds is legally entitled to a second recount, and votes are guaranteed to switch with a margin this small, so this election isn’t over, for better or worse.

I guess you need to take your victories where you can. After all, 2018 is going to be absolutely brutal for you. Also, there will more than likely be another recount. Proclaiming victory now might be short sighted.

Yancey will never concede. Simonds shouldn't either. Just keep it going until 2019 when Yancey loses outright. Smiley

Not for long. In 2019, Virginia will be a D trifecta.

I got the popular vote pretty close but missed the Midwest, like most people. I assume your predictions in Virginia and Alabama were spot on though?

Here's the thing. There are 2 types of people in this world. Those who win the elections and those who talk about winning the elections. It's quite easy to figure out who is who as one looks at the various legislative chambers in this country. When you win so much an occasional loss is hardly a big deal.

This Simonds fellow might attempt to steal the election, but alas, its too little, too late. The legislative session begins next Wednesday.

After all the huge losses the GOP has suffered recently, a razor-thin majority in the Virginia HoD is all you have.

Uh Victory!

Anyone saying this is robbed doesn’t understand  politics. Simonds was only up 1 day while yancey has been tied or up the whole election.
