Welp looks like yancy may hold on by 1-6 votes.
Shows every vote counts.

GOP sweatin like a dog

I wonder if Simonds ended up winning by 1 vote, if Greedo would cry fraud. It's in line with his philosophy that it is because of voter fraud when a Democrat wins by a small number of votes.

LOL, good prediction.

Considering the VA HoD map is a GOP gerrymander, come 2020 if the Dems have a trifecta, even a fair map will be devastating for the VA GOP.

Let's gerrymander the heck out of it. I'm all for fair districting, but as long as Republicans are against it and continue abusing it, let them feel the pain too. CA and NY should go for it too.

NY state senate is Republican-controlled.

Only because of the Ignorant Deplorable Caucus traitors.

How weak of the gop to give up a seat by 1 vote!
No I don’t think this is rigged but there should be a recount.

Wait, isn't Greedo's gripe with the 2004 Washington race the fact that they did multiple recounts? But now he wants a second recount here? lol

Give it up, The fact the guy was only leading by 10 votes before the recount in a seat he won handily last time and nobody thought would be competitive this year shows how weak a campaign he ran.

Okay the difference with Washington 04 and HD-94 is

Yancy won the first count by 10 votes
Rossi won the first count by 250ish
Yancy lost the second count by 1 vote
Rossi won the second count by 40ish votes
Rossi then goes on to lose in the third count by 110ish votes

So the reason I want a recount is because the result changed in 04 the first 2 counts were the same.

In the Virginia it changed with yancy losing by 1 vote I think that when there is a recount that changes the actual result they should do a extra count.

There should have been a third count in Minnesota in 08 and a fourth count in Washington in 04.

a race here 22,000 votes are cast is different then a race where nearly 3 million votes are cast.

The % margin between Rossi and Gregoire in the initial count was closer than the % margin between Yancey and Simonds in the initial count. For reference, the Rossi-Gregoire initial margin would be a margin of 2 votes if it had the same total # of votes as the Yancey-Simonds election.

That's a fair point. Honestly, in a race that is decided by a single vote, it wouldn't be surprising if the result changed each time you recounted. In something that close, even 99.99% counting precision wouldn't be enough to give a clear victor.

So it looks like we agree then that a third count would be good to sort out any errors there could be.

I agree. Especially with this population development:

NoVa (Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Fairfax City, Manassas, Manassas Park, Loudoun and Prince William)
2010: 2,230,623 (27.8% of the whole state, so around 27-29 seats)
2020: 2,639,338 (30.2% of the whole state, so around 29-31 seats)

NoVa and other urban/suburban areas will gain seats, while SW Virginia and other rural areas will lose seats. Doesn't look good for the VA GOP

1 more seat in both houses and VA is blue from top to bottom! Makes me think about moving there after college.

I regret ever saying or thinking "there will never be an election decided by 1 vote" or something like that
