Going back through this, it's amazing that Bill Cohen got no votes for best. IMO either the second or third best Senator in the past 25 years.

As a Mainer I've certainly been lucky with my Senators. For such a small state our senators seems to have an outsized impact on national politics, going back to the 50s with Margaret Chase Smith and Ed Muskie.

I agree that Cohen is second best.

Hathaway, Payne, and Mitchell are the worst post-1959. Smith is the best.
