Attempts by the president to direct the congressional party rarely pay off.  LBJ was the last to pull it off and he was a former Senate Majority Leader.  Historically, even FDR and Teddy Roosevelt couldn't close the deal on this.

With Swearengin's overperformance, keep in mind that the vote currently reporting is disproportionately from the county with the state's largest college and the only county with significant DC metro influence.

I was amazed by the number of people who seemed to genuinely believe that Blankenship would win the primary, even though it was pretty obvious all along that he wouldn't.

I could see Ojeda narrowly winning while Manchin narrowly loses.  Manchin needs to be concerned about the north.
