It's an important step forward for McConnell if this MTP passes, which is appearing more likely now, but everyone should keep in context what that means. There are still several very difficult obstacles ahead, and a successful MTP vote just means one fewer obstacle.

Portman is a Yes on the MTP. Looks like this is getting through.

Murkowski and Capito could still kill it, they won't but it could happen.

The MTP doesn't even commit them to a final vote.

Everyone gets that that is technically true. We just have no faith that any of these Republicans are going to do the right thing today.

Theoretically, two of Lee, Moran, Murkowski, or Johnson would kill it. Unlikely though.

So McConnell's plan is to pass basically any bill with 50 votes, just so it will go to a conference committee?

I seems the gallery in the Senate is trying to interrupt the vote.
They have been screaming "Kill the Bill and "Shame" over and over again for about 3 minutes now.
LOL.

The stream I'm watching doesn't have a vote counter, and everyone is voting way too quietly to be heard. Any interesting ones?

Someone should start swinging like they do in the Taiwanese Parliament
Honestly, I admire those legislators for their passion.

The way the vote works is that the clerk reads off the entire roll first, then announces how each senator voted. Then there is time for those who did not vote immediately to cast their vote. The vote ends at the discretion of the Acting President Pro Tempore (currently Lankford).

Ah, thanks. I must just be too used to everything important happening in the House and getting the little projector-style vote counts over the live feed.
