I knew that the Republicans other than Collins and Murkowski were posturing. "Moderate Republican in Congress" is becoming an oxymoron.

I think they get the votes to actually pass something, but I as of right now I am not sure how they get there. Collins is a definite no, Murkowski is essentially allying herself with Collins, and Paul as of now will only vote for total repeal. Who of those 3 will blink?

According to Rand Paul's people, they are starting with the BCRA which will have a 60 vote threshold.

Murkowski voting No is actually a horrible sign for this bill's health, given Rand Paul's repeated statements that he won't vote Yes on passage of anything except clean repeal. People are calling this way too early.

So then you have Murkowski, Collins and Paul safe Nays? Plus McCain at the moment? A certain defeat at the floor. So much for the winning. (but I don't want to celebrate before it's done).

Paul has said he wants a vote on clean repeal... but hasn't said what he'll do after that. Will most likely vote for it, and then go on about how he 'forced a vote to repeal all of obamacare' etc

That's my assumption too, he just want to have a full repeal vote so he can say "I tried" and then fall in line.

So, does that require help from Democrats?

To be fair, it is a tricky situation. They certainly can't boo a man just diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer, that would be terrible optics. They probably should have done/said nothing (side note: I didn't watch the proceedings so I don't know exactly what they did or didn't do)

If this passes, the amount of Americans John McCain will have killed will surpass his kill count on North Vietnamese civilian farmers.

The whole point is:

1. Vote on BCRA. Bill fails.
2. Vote on Full Repeal. Bill fails.
3. Introduce McConnell's secret sauce of the day. Bill passes(?)

Yeah, I hope that anyone who is upset about this and either votes for a GOP Senator or failed to vote Hillary last November has learned a valuable lesson. Sad

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people who voted for Toomey/Johnson/Rubio/Trump knew exactly what they were voting for.

If only Hillary took voters in either of their states seriously.

If only Hillary took voters in either of their states seriously.

If only liberal voters in those states werent precious snowflakes who needed special attention in order to actually vote for her.

Both Toomey and Johnson outperformed Trump in their states.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people who voted for Toomey/Johnson/Rubio/Trump knew exactly what they were voting for.

There were a significant amount of Clinton/Toomey voters (that were only partially canceled out by Trump/McGinty voters), Clinton/Johnson voters, and Clinton/Rubio voters. Same holds in NC, AZ, GA. The only major senate races with mass straight ticket were NV, CO and IL. The deciding votes to keep the R senate majority came largely from people wanting to check Hillary (the presumed winner), and not from Trump loyalists.
