I would hands down vote for Hackett, and I honestly can smell an upset brewing with election.  I'm going with my gut over my head and saying Hackett will win the election.

Hackett/Schmidt, but if there's anyone who deserves an upset, it's Hackett.

Hackett/Schmidt.

I prefer Hackett only marginally over Schmidt, so either way, they have a good congressman.  Schmidt will still win whatever happens though.

Call me crazy, but Im not prepared to predict a winner... Yet.

Hackett is a hell of a candidate.

1.)  Iraq War Veteran.
2.)  Straight Shooter (see chickenhawk comment).
3.)  Very pro-second amendment.
4.)  Charismatic.
5.)  His oppenent is corrupt.
6.)  He's going dollar for dollar w/ Schmidt.
7.)  He's getting a ton of free airtime.
8.)  He's been endorsed by every newspaper in the area.
9.)  He wants it more.

The only thing Schmidt has going for her is the (R) behind her name.

IMO, its gonna' be 52-48 either way.

Hackett/???

5.)  His oppenent is corrupt. - In what way?
8.)  He's been endorsed by every newspaper in the area. - I don't think that matters much, frankly. And the less it matters, the less it matters.
9.)  He wants it more. - LOL, that doesn't matter either. (View Trondheim vs Emperor. Smiley )

Schmidt wins. And, at the end of the day, my voting decision would be simple... Dennis Hastert vs. Nancy Pelosi.

I would consider voting for a Democrat only if he or she promised to vote Hastert for Speaker should it come down to their vote. Actually a Democratic Congressman in Ohio did that I believe.

A certain Jim Traficant...you know where he is now? Wink
Of course...this is a by-election...control of the house is not at stake...so I haven't got the slightest clue who you think you're fooling.
And yeah, at the end of the day Schmidt wins. I'd be shocked if Hackett pulled it off.

OK, wait. So your argument is that in 2006 it couldn't matter if this seat changes hand?

In the future, note that the phrase "should it" indicates a speculative possibility at some time in the future, i.e. 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, etc. Though the leadership may be different at that time, anyone with an IQ over, say, 80 should understand what I meant. But for people under that mark, I suppose it's possible they were "fooled."

Maybe I should give allowances for people that speak english as a second language.

A Week ago I said that I will vote for Schmidt but would not be upset if he won. Well that is no longer the case after hearing him on the Cunningham Show (Cincinnati Radio Show, Weekdays at noon-3) When asked who was the Biggest thret to The American People, He said the man in the Oval office. I know you people on hear are gonna say there is nothign wrong with that.... Well it is not sitting well in the of the most Conservative Districts in the country and very possible the one that Put that man there last November. He also voted 6 times to raise taxes when on City Council and is in favor of raising the Inheritance tax.

Jean Schmidt voted in favor of every single one of Bob Taft's tax increases.

Hacket/Schmidt, though I honestly won't be too surprised if he wins.  And even if he does win, odds are he'll lose in either '06 or '08.

I just knew that this Hackett was a slime, but I had no evidence for it. Thanks for providing the info.

So basically you're factoring in the stupidity (ie, voting for the incumbent as a default) of your fellow voters?
Okay, fair enough.

What is your rationale?  Raising taxes?  The witch Schmidt voted in favor of every single one of Bob Taft's tax increases.  Or is it the fact that he called President Bush a ChickenHawk?  Well, he's 100% correct.  The president is a ChickenHawk.  Theres no denying that.

Way to support your troops.

Witch? Wtf?
Maybe he meant inheritance taxes...

There's  a difference between calling a chicken hawk a "chicken hawk" and calling the most dangerous man America faces "the most dangerous man America faces". The first is flat out true. The second smacks of hyperbole and far-left-wing loonyness and needs explaining to be grasped...and I'd doubt anyone using that remark for an anti-Hackett ad would do that.

Yes, she is a witch.  Need an explanation?  Just look at the swift boat tactics her campaign is using against Hackett.

Hackett is a hack. I don't give a sh**t if he was in the military or not-- the military is rather large, so it's not exactly unique. He has no chance, and it's his own fault.

Pot, meet kettle.

Umm, ok.  Unique? No.  Respectable? Yes.  Show a little respect.

The NRCC just felt like pissing away $500,000 or something?

The guy is an idiot. He's just another anti-Bush fanatic like the kind that populate dkos and the like.

How is Bush a "Chicken hawk?" Oh that's right, rather than be honorable and dodge the draft like Clinton he flew the most dangerous plane ever deployed by the US Air Force, in a unit that was serving in combat when he signed up.

I did not vote for Bush. I do not like Bush. I never have. But someone that gets on radio and says Bush is the greatest threat to the US, is simply an asshole. Even if that were true, which it is not, the Presidency deserves respect as an institution.

For someone who degrades that office because of its occupant-- a person who won the most total votes in the history of the United States-- to talk about "respect," is, well, hilarious.
