Before last year, I might be up for voting for him if there are no holes in his credentials. But the Senate Republicans through the rules of sanity out of the window last year. I am in the filibuster camp.

I will be livid if Democrats don't filibuster him.

The logic for not filibustering makes no sense.

"If we filibuster, McConnell will kill the filibuster. So we need to save it for a different battle where we ALSO won't use the filibuster because McConnell will threaten to kill it."

Everyone knows McConnell will take even the slimmest excuse to end the filibuster, so call his bluff now instead of letting him hold it over you for god knows how long.

Republicans changed the rules on us last year. We're cucks if we don't fight it.

Also, any blue state Democrat who votes for cloture deserves to be primaried. To be that out of touch with what your supporters want is unforgivable.

Feinstein, Carper, Coons, Bennett, and Warner specifically are the ones I'm worried about.

Filibuster. Republicans blew their chance at forcing a consensus pick a year ago.

We should leave it up to the American people to decide who they want as their next Justice. 2020 isn't that far away!

The McConnell rule, if you will Tongue

Lol just like the Republicans, right?

Democrats aren't going to get thrashed for this. If anything, we'll be rewarded.

Let's not keep escalating this, or we won't have a government.

If you were genuinely outraged over Garland... Trump is many things, but he wasn't one of those blocking Garland.

Let's not become hypocrites.

Instead of progressives getting a sudden surprise majority, we are keeping the ideological status quo. Not the end of the world.

Democrats have put maintaining civility far too high on their list of priorities for too long. If they deeply care about the issues they claim to champion, the risk of disturbing the natural order shouldn't factor in our minds at all.

If the Democrats knew how to count, they might note that Trump won a supermajority of 30 states. That tends to be an issue when each state has the same amount of votes.

You lost with a 2-1 money advantage!

I generally don't like the nuclear option, but Democrats have to grow a spine and filibuster him. It's nice to try and live by Michelle Obama's words: "when they go low, we go high", claim the moral high ground, and be cooperative and respectful, even to those who are incapable of doing so themselves. Sometimes, though, you have no choice but to fight back, and play dirty if you want to win. The Democrats aren't going to stop Trump and Republicans in Congress with hugs.

It's not spineless.

It's being the party of good governance. Of responsible adults.

Republicans are the party of obstruction, and they get away with it because they always talk about how bad government is and how it should be cut.

Not only that, what do you say to the charge of hypocrisy?

If Gorsuch was, like, a member of the American Nazi Party, or talked about abolishing the Supreme Court, that would be one thing. But he seems to be inside the mainstream.

I know how to fight. But I also know when to fight.
